All For Reef not mixing!

so I put 3 scoops of All For Reef into 450ml of warm RO/DI water and put it on a magnetic stirrer in the middle of the day left it on all night and it is still not mixed. Anyone know what’s up? Am I doing something wrong?

Yea I see some people say “ah mine mixed great in 10 mins” and others are not mixing. I’m hoping to get a real answer and some consistency.

Help me help you with the real part. Below are a couple pictures of me mixing powder to clarity. Are you following the instructions to create the product?

As an aside I mixed up about 3600 ml batches. I use a 200 ml glass beaker, magnetic stirrer, and it seems to work well. I've not run into any issues. I started TM AFR with the DIY components and later switched to the 1600 g powder once it was readily available in the US. I've been using the product and mixing it for a few years now. I does about 90 ml/day.

I mixed with room temp with no luck which is why I switched to warm water cause some people said that helped them.

you can add up to another 100ml of water if you need. The solution could not be dissolving anymore

I think I’ve found the problem! Once I added a little more water it is almost completely clear I think I just need to start using more water than what is stated in the mixing instructions.

Ok. This has probably been covered somewhere but can't find it. My container of all for reef says mix 6 scoops~160 grams to 1L rodi, the website says mix 6 scoops~160 grams to 900 ml to make a 1L mixture, which is correct? See attached pics. First is my 800g container, second is their website...

I must have misread as it seems the concentration has changed. So now the recipe is 900ml to 160g. I think you should fine to add additional water to dissolve the solution. I would wager our scoops aren't uniform which could be the reason why its not fully dissolving.

I wouldn't fully dilute the solution, but a little more water wouldn't hurt

Yea I guarantee I’m using more that 160g in a scoop! Problem solved!

yea that would be the correct way. I suspect op and I were a little heavy handed with our scoops and which is why we couldnt dissolve in 900ml. I will also be switching to a scale next

your not using a "heaping" scoop are you? And your not packing it in right?
I believe you should be using 500 ml, thats how I understand the instructions and its how I do it.

Maybe you can post a pic of your scoop and of your unmixed stuff, something seems wrong, its not hard to mix lol

well the instructions say well packed, I might have packed it too well lol
