Yes, well, youre body will act as a ground for current to flow to. In a tank, where is there a ground connection for current to flow? There isn't a such thing as stray current, only potential for current to flow. Give current a ground or something similar to a ground and it'll flow. Current is what does damage.

Not in particular. Im a welder and have been bitten quite a few times. The metal is the ground, not me.

Yes. You can buy a big sheet at the lighting department at home Depot for under $10

Ok, you stuck your and in the tank and got a shock right? Were you bare foot? You can get a "shock" even when insulated from ground. Your body capacitance to ground will look like a ground for current to flow to. Differences in charges cause current to flow.

The point here is whether or not stray voltage in the tank actually causes current to flow through our livestock. That brings me to my question of if anyone has proof that this stray voltage actually hurts anything in the tank.

Voltages exist everywhere. Doesn't mean that current is flowing.

There is an article on coral feeding and the electrochemical reaction caused by tiny amounts of electrical currents in the water column from all manners of life.

If that current is higher it might signal to the coral a predator is close by and prevent its polyp extensions. Prolonged exposure to this phenomenon could cause the coral to stress, starve, die.

Does this happen in ever case? Of course not. But even if the answer is it might, why risk it?
