I thought the same thing... until I seen the stuff that kinda looked like cotton candy lol. I took all my other animals out of my room for tonight so I can use bleach if I have to. I wiped off all the visible mold I could see, so now could I use bleach? It’s a used canopy so I’m not sure if the bleach would eat at the paint or anything... even if it did I’m ok with it because it’s on the inside. Could I let it soak with this stuff (pic below) for 20 minutes or so then wipe back off with water?hi,are you sure not just salt creep?? if mold take off ,take out ,clean and repaint.
Yes, I will be! Lol I already added a vinegar solution as well as a liquid detergent/bleach/ hot water mix and am about to wipe down with water then will wipe down with water again tomorrow before I put it back on my tankwould set out in garage ,clean tomorrow ,use a product that will specify mold killer, then clean with water after.
and careful breathing that stuff ,be it mold/bleach/cleaner in a room!!
Yikes lol. I didn’t mix them per day, I added one, wiped it, then added the other, so on. Despite this, right when I read this I put the canopy outside and will deal with it tomorrow after school lol. My tank will just be rimless for the night I guessdo not mix vinegar and bleach !!!
I didn’t mix them but added one on the canopy then wiped it off, then added the bleach and wiped it off. Lol making me nervousVinegar and bleach together make chlorine gas. It can kill you but would definitely mess you up.
Yep a bird lolIf there isn't some kind of way for ventilation to get out of your canopy that is an issue you will have. I assume this is some sort of lid to keep other animals from bothering the tank? Make sure there is some sort of ventilation out of the tank or the evaporation will continue to do the same thing. Even with mildew or mold resistant paint it will still just grow on the outside and not Penetrate the inside.
Whew... thats good. Yeah chemistry is a cruel thing. Many times I have wanted to combine bleach and vinegar when cleaning something just to remember I like breathing more. You did the right thing and made 2 different steps instead of 1.I didn’t mix them but added one on the canopy then wiped it off, then added the bleach and wiped it off. Lol making me nervous
That’s my least favorite part of fish keeping. I hate all the chemistry, water parameters, and dosing kind of stuff. I’m good at keeping the fish healthy, coral healthy, and so on. None of the chemistry, though lol. Probably why I didn’t do so good in the classWhew... thats good. Yeah chemistry is a cruel thing. He’s a green cheek Conure lol, and part of the canopy has an open back to it. The part where most of the mold was is right above the overflow. What kind of bird? AND does the canopy have ventilation as it is?
There are many reefer who wish they had done better in chemistry. That’s my least favorite part of fish keeping. I hate all the chemistry, water parameters, and dosing kind of stuff. Well there may need to be some DIY in your future to disappate the air that is coming around there or water probably and direct it elsewhere. There is probably a lot of evaporation or salt creep happening in that specific spot. He’s a green cheek Conure lol, and part of the canopy has an open back to it.
