Am I Limited By A Shallow Reef Tank?

Thanks for the info. It looks nice but I heard back from crystal reef aquatics I'm pretty sure I'm thinking I might go with them, though I'm waiting to speak to C2C also. CRA were incredibly personable in their emails and I like their product. We are still discussing things.

Check with TankMeUSA as well, my tank and aluminum stand were delivered the other week and the quality is phenomenal. 36x18x16, aluminum stand, zero style overflow. I can't say enough good things about how great Gaston was to work with.

Did you see the picture of the coffee table? It's not small.

Small isn't the point. Shallowness is the point.
Larger and more active fish need some headroom. How would you like it if your home had 5' ceilings?

It would depend on what the rest of the house looked like.:)

This picture shows where I have to put the tank. The narrow wall on the right is exactly 24 inches wide.

It was a pleasure!

I like the shallow look and after having mine at 16" I wouldn't go any shorter, especially if this will be a mixed reef. I kept my aquascape low but some of the sps on top gets exposed to air if I do a 10g water change or more. Also getting good flow without blowing sand all around will be challenge since the powerhead will be pretty low by the sand. At 12"H you're looking at maybe 10" of actual water height only.
