I really want to add a foxface rabbit fish, but I'm concerned I'm adding too many. I have a 75 gallon DT with a 15 gallon sump.

Current residents in DT are
2 clowns- 5 months
bicolor blenny - 4 months
purple fire fish - 3 months
peppermint shrimp
cleaner shrimp
blue tuxedo urchin
CUC

Current fish in QT
Coral beauty - 3 weeks
yellow tang - 3 weeks

My plan was after I finish the qt on the coral beauty and tang to get a foxface in QT. I also would really like to add a diamond goby. I'm worried that would be to many fish.

A couple thoughts.
I added my onespot foxface to my 5’ 108 gallon tank after my yellow tang. Big mistake. The tang did not appreciate the foxface being there at all. I’m assuming because they are both yellow and eat the same food. I had to rehome the tang cause it went mad and would not leave the foxface alone.

Maybe if the foxface was in first it would have been ok.

Second, I personally don’t feel 5’ is enough for the foxface. So I will most likely rehome it when the right situation arises.

That’s my personal experience and it doesn’t mean it won’t work for you.

I have a tomini tang now and I love it and feel that’s about as large of a tang I would have in my size tank.

For the diamond goby, I just added one last week at the 18 month mark of my tank. They primarily feed off of the microfauna in the sand. Many folks get them way to early and they end up starving over time. While they may eat pellets or mysis, it’s not their primary food source. That’s why I waited till I had a very mature sand bed.

I think you will be fine. I had 10 fish in my 75, 2 shrimps and other stuff.

And too many fish is only bad if it’s the wrong fish. Smart stocking plan and appropriate filtration work great together

I have a 75 but with 40B sump

Have two maroon clowns
Flame hawk
Lawnmower blenny
Tailspot blenny
Blackcap basslet
Six line wrasse
3 purple firefish
One spot foxface
Blue eye tang
And a gold head sleeper goby.

I don't have any issues at all but my particular fox face is too shy for my liking. I really wanted one badly when getting into the hobby but now I feel he doesn't really fit with the other fish. No issues but scale wise he is a large fish compared to the rest

Personally I think you should get rid of the tang and not get the foxface. Both fish grow too large for your tank and eventually there will be aggression. Actually with the tang already established I doubt it would let the foxface live.
The diamond goby should be fine. They are fun little fish.
I would rather see a couple of different fish happy in your tank than one unhappy tang.

Mine is very shy as well. Active eater, but then back to his favorite cave and an occasional swim.

How do you like your Maroon clowns. Do they have a nem? How are they with your other fish?

I love them. They do have some nems now but haven't found them yet. My female gold nugget is still digging up the back of my tank. The lighting has finally decided to join her and not have the corner of the tank hosting him

They don't bother any fish other than the foxface likes to annoy the female by hanging in her gave. She will push him away but not Beth aggressively. The only thing she hates is my flipper lol

That's what I hate. Probably most aggressive eater in the tank but so shy. Seems like a lot of bio load for a lazy fish. When I fell in love with the foxface it was seeing pics and vids of them constantly swimming around tanks

Thanks for the reply! I’m considering a pair. I do have a pair of ocellaris already and am concerned about space mixing clowns. I will probably have to choose one or the other.

I'd pass on the foxface. They can get big. I've had two different ones, started one in a 65 and moved it to a 120 6 foot tank with a Regal tang. Never had issues with territorial disputes, but the foxface seems to be the pig at feeding time. I worry that my old regal doesn't get enough food, my foxface is very quick.

Same. Probably my biggest disappointment in a fish. It’s a shame because it’s beautiful

Ya that would probably be a risk. I wasn't planning on maroons but after my tank cycled we visited the lfs. the wife fell in love with the gold nugget. Only thing I hate is the digging. Nope they find the btas one of these days

I hate to be one of those guys but I wouldn't get either a Yellow Tang or Foxface for my 75 Gallon. I have the same exact setup as you that I'm upgrading into. This is my current stocking in my 55 Gallon.

2 X Ocellaris Clowns
1 X Royal Gramma
1 X Diamond Watchman Goby
1 X Lyretail Anthias
1 X Indigo Hamlet - Yes I know people gasp when they hear I have a Hamlet in my tank but in 6+ months he's shown no interest in the Gramma and gets along great with everyone.
1X Fire Shrimp

Once I get the 75 Gallon established I plan on adding a Coral Beauty and possibly two Banggai Cardinals ....still unsure....would LOVE a Marine Betta but I think having a Betta and Hamlet with the Gramma would be just asking for that thing to get eaten.

My levels are great I just make sure to change 20-30% water every week. My 55 is running on a Fluval 406 not a sump but my 75 has a 15 gallon sump so water will be even better once I transfer.

If you skip the Foxface and Yellow Tang you could add quite a few smaller fish in there. There really is a lot of cool fish out there you just got to look.

And I must add that you need to keep up with everything. Your tank is young...hell my tank is a year and a half established and I still consider it young. Keep up with your water changes, have a higher grade skimmer, and do not deviate from your cleaning schedule and you should be fine.

As long as your filtration can handle your bioload then your good. Test your water parameters every so often. You have a softie only tank right? Then you don’t have to be overly concerned about nitrate and phosphates levels. Obviously there’s the fish compatibility issue but besides that you can put what you want in there l. And I believe that a lot of fish in a tank curbs aggression anyway because it’s hard for them to have territory to claim. Filtration tho! And water changes when your test say you need them. I’m trying my reef thumb out on acros right now so I’m watching my bioload closer.....
