I've just started my first reef tank. It's a 100 gallon SCA tank. The tank is cycling with first dose of ammonia yesterday. I find myself sitting in front of the tank watching the rock and waiting to test the water again (I'm only testing once a day). Am I the only one who does this? Tell me I'm not alone!

Well you've got me staring at the photo trying to figure out what you're trying to spell with the rock!

Like the rock-work.....nicely done.

Man, when I first set up my tank I would just watch it for days on end just looking at the rocks and thinking of how cool it looked with the water.

That's a really nice rock formation you created there. You are not the only one, I think everyone has done it even if they won't admit it.

Also, is that lava rock ? The purple one?

I remember my first days.. Its a good feeling. Then in a flash your tank is alive and full! Nice looking tank!
Thanks. I'm sure it will seem like a flash but right now it seems like forever!

Honestly I don't know. It's a piece of live rock I got from a LFS. I'm hoping it's going to kick start my cycle!

Great, it looked like lava rock and lava rock is bad for a tank just making sure ;)

Definitely not alone. Wait until you see something brown growing and your significant other looks at you like you're crazy when you get excited about it.

Since you have some seed rock, you may see something moving sooner than later. Good luck!

No, you're not alone; you've already got all of us staring at your tank looking for any movement, guessing what your water parameters are, wishing we were starting a new tank, etc.

Fingers crossed!
