No, you're not alone; you've already got all of us staring at your tank looking for any movement, guessing what your water parameters are, wishing we were starting a new tank, etc.

So funny, you're wishing you started a tank and I'm wishing mine was mature.

Definitely not alone. Wait until you see something brown growing and your significant other looks at you like you're crazy when you get excited about it.

Since you have some seed rock, you may see something moving sooner than later. Good luck!

Except I'm afraid I overdosed ammonia and killed any bacteria that came on that rock. Ugh!

That bacteria feeds off of it, so not likely. If there were any hitchhikers you may have done them in but it's surprising what creatures can survive. Keep an eye out for pods. Nothing seems to kill all of them lol!

Starting a tank is fun because you haven't reached the pull your hair out parts yet. The hobby can be frustrating but also extremely rewarding. Focus on the rewarding parts and fix the frustrating parts :)

I appreciate that feedback. I’m trying my best to let nature do its thing. I’m not good at waiting! Haha. My wife has commented on how clear the tank looks. I’ve warned her that there will be some unattractive times while the tank matures.

To people who don't know better, green hair algae looks like sea grass. I've never seen a reason to educate the uninformed lol! The VAST majority of people who will see your tank will only notice the beautiful things, not the ugly ones. They don't notice power cords, algae, cyano(what's that pretty red stuff?), scratches in the glass, or a struggling coral. They don't know nor do they care what color a coral is "supposed" to be.

They see pretty fish and pretty coral that's live. Then they notice things like snails, crabs, shrimp, and asterina stars. That's it. I find I'm happier when I focus on the things other people see rather than stressing about the things they don't notice :)

Great perspective. Thanks for that!

Such white rock. Your tank will soon be brown then red then green and hairy. In the mean time get some of these *v*

Haha. I can't wait to have some swimmers in there but I think I'll hold out for the real deal!

I'm sure. At least there will be something other than white rock soon!

I spent a good hour the other night following an amphipod around on the glass that was about the size of the tip of a pin lol We all do it and as time goes on it will be the first pod, first worm thingy, first snail/crab, first coral, first new coral head. You'll spend hours watching what some people might think isn't worth watching and you'll be loving every second of it!:)
