Amphidinium Dinoflagellate Treatment Methods

Yeah, that's what I saw, however no sight of them under the scope which is weird so it kind of matches the 0. I only have a light dusting on the sand to which is the weird part. However I am getting alage on the glass I can seems to get a sample to test though as it dusts away when I scrape.

Do you think this will also work with small cell amphidinium dinos also going the sand bed? Do you know if they have the same shell system like large cell amphidinium that will lyse in the fresh water dip?
Small Cell and Lg Cell Amphidinium both lack thecal plates (armor) and so I was surprised that Lg Cell Amphidinium were lysed in freshwater in seconds, but they were. I expect small cell amphidinium will suffer the same, but I do not recall if I have observed it personally under the scope.

I can guarantee spongexcel is providing Si, and the kit is failing to detect. Many other reports of same.
I first saw diatoms on the glass as well, and it makes perfect sense that people with dino outbreaks don't see a diatom explosion upon dosing P, N, & Si. The dinos have already depleted important trace elements. Doesn't mean it's not working. You've now created a situation where Diatoms can compete for scarce elements as they become available.
Removing dino cells directly can speed this process.
Observations of stirring sand triggering visible growth (diatoms and dinos both) are due in part to the scarce resources liberated from within the sandbed.

This is true but it's still weird that I see not 1 diatom in the tank ?

Thank you I guess I assumed it was diatoms on glass but just being unable to sample and see sucks lol. I should have listened as well about sailfert just couldn't drop 60 bucks on a hannah at the time.
 
I have what I think is diatoms growing on my front and side glass. (Brown, not stringy). Should I leave it and not scrape it off? Hope they take over my dino?

Quick update. I left for a 5-day spring break trip and didn't trust my mother-in-law(though I love her to death) to dose anything, so tank was simply fed for 5 days. Came back yesterday and tank looks nearly completely clean. Still a very light dusting of something on the sand bed but nowhere near as heavy as before and seemingly nothing on the rocks. Tank hasn't looked this good in 4-5 months at least.

This morning I started back dosing MB7 but at 30ml vs 60ml and silicate at 15 drops vs 30. I'm suspending H2O2 dosing for a bit to see how the tank reacts.

After you get the hang of Si dosing with spongexcel, florida aqua farms sells a bigger cheaper more concentrated Si product.
It has no guidance though, so I wouldn't use it without some experience testing and dosing.

Ok entire bottle is gone, sailfert is garbage lol still 0 however I see algae all over the glass, no diatoms in the sand though. However when I started dosing I had gone from coolia to amphidium. now when I look I have a trifecta. I feel like when I weaken one another comes back strong and this is my issue I am having. I stated with coolia, developed amphidium. Now when I look I see coolia, amphidium, and ostreopsis. I am kind of at a cross road and have no idea what to do at this point any more its been 13 months I hate to keep throwing money at a problem that feels so unbeatable. Any advice? I attached videos of what I see and what my tank looks like. Its weird it does not look terrible. Do you have UV? It looks like your amphidinium is Small Cell type that goes into the water somewhat.

I do not anymore, however mine was never good, it was the green killing machine. Also the sand looks better at night but still has brown stuff on it. Also the green killing machine did absolutely nothing even with a black out. I know it not powerful however it was rated for 120 gallons. I have an AIO tank so plumbing a UV would be very difficult for me to do
 
I’m starting to get more green stuff GHA I assume. Maybe Cyno too.
Still bubbles every few hours.

Do I just let my tank continue to grow all the other stuff?

So I. threw in the green killing machine last night just to see what would happen, and I woke up today to Dino strings and bubbles all over the rock work. ...Not sure how uv could have made things worse.....
 
Joining the fight, I have been dosing mb7 and it’s seems to be helping.

This is quite a good result so far. The microscope pic you posted appear to be both Large and Small Cell Amphidinium. I assume you took that sample from your sandbed.
Provide as much detail as possible to what you've been doing during this week.

Also are you dosing daily 1 cap per 25 gallons or are you dosing weekly?
 
I took a sample right from the sand bed. I’ve been dosing mb7 everyday (1 cap full for every 25 gallons) . I turn off my skimmer and UV for 4-5 hours after dosing. I’ve had Dino for about a month or so (tank is about 4 months old). I stopped doing water changes. I was doing weekly 10%. I haven’t touched the sandbed.

Now, I want to disclose a few things before everyone starts dumping mb7 lol. When I first set up my tank I put sea lettuce in my refugium. I also don’t think I had enough surface area for Bactreria. I was trying to run minimal rock work.

The lettuce died and went sexual. (This is where I believe Dino got their foot hold). My tank was cloudy for weeks. My ph was low 7.7 and had a nitrite spike .5 but no ammonia. Nitrates at 3ppm O phosphates, and alk 8.

So I added marinepure spheres for more surface area. And added Kalk to my ATO (1/2 heaping teaspoon per gal)

As of the last two weeks, sea lettuce has been taking hold in my refugium. It’s growing nicely. And this past week I’m seeing a big reduction in Dino.

Another thing to note, I have filter floss in between the chambers going to my return pump. I took a sample from the filter floss and I had Dino’s in there. So I’ve been changing the floss out daily.

I bought a 1 micron sock and I think I’m going to siphon the sand bed into the sock and back to the sump. I’m afraid to touch anything lol.
