Anampses Lennardi Wrasse....

So I have some sad news... My Lennardi has been missing for almost 2 days.... Have had him for 5 months plus now. He was eating very well. He got bigger for sure... Any hope he's just hiding in sand for a few days??? He was very social, swam all over my tank, and wasn't being bullied....

:(

Hopefully he's just taking a siesta

Yes, super secure lid. He didn’t jump....
Has anyone seen a Lennardi just take a break for a couple of days??

Check temp. Might go unnoticed if heater gave out. Past 72 he might decide to stay in the sand till it warms up. Had that happen before.

That shouldn't be the case with lennardi as they come from cooler waters and don't seem to 'last' in water in the upper 70's or higher.

So I noticed my temp probe said 78.4 and my actual temp was 79.7 today.

So I found him, he’s laying on sand breathing heavy. He has moved a little bit to another spot , but he’s still on his side. I will leave him alone....

Wow, Crazy price on that Wrasse. Looks similar to a Male Leopard Wrasse for a fraction of the cost. I hope it pulls through. I personally would never drop that kind of coin on a fish. If that fish dies I would devastated.

I think he has passed on. I had left for work Tuesday and he was laying on side breathing heavy on side of tank behind rock work. Have not seen him since...

:(

Awe man I’m really sorry to hear that. [emoji53]

Yeah, fish was great for a solid 5 months..... No idea what happened..... Most likely won't try another one....

Sorry to hear that... I have very two large Lennardi's in my tank 3 year old well stocked and healthy 250g tank. Have had them for over a month and I never see them feed, especially with the others. Not sure what on earth they are feeding on but seem happy and healthy full reasonably full belly's on inspection although they sleep A LOT. I mean, I might see them out for an hour a day. I wonder if that's because they are conserving energy from lack of food? I have tried everything from burying prawns and pellets in the sand to spread feeding mysis with the other fish. They just look at it and swim past, don't even give it a glance. The prawns I bury general get eaten by my cleanup crew or the bristle-worm I have living in the rocks. Shop i got them from has a great reputation and said they were feeding on small prawns buried in the sand for weeks before he put them out on show.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Lennardi coloration is nothing like a leopard wrasse. Price is a function or scarcity in the hobby. Too twitchy for the price for me but YMMV.

You want to start with live black worms. Mine eventually moved on to take pellets from the auto feeder twice daily and mysis/brine.
