Good morning ya salties.. got an lta yesterday let him pick a spot and let him sit overnight.. well he didn't attach was laying over on his side this morning so I adopted the plastic cup method and cleared out a spot where he can attach his healthy foot to the glass .. perameters. On 12/12/23 it was pH 8.2, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, just barely reading nitrate so we'll say .01, cal mag lvls at 515 and 1,200 no phos, sal 35.2ppt shouldn't have moved at all. First image was last night second was after my adjustment into the cup method. Is there anything anyone can suggest further to ensure it's establishment?

Find or build a cave with rocks on your sand bed. Make sure the rocks have no sharp edges inside. Position it's foot near the cave. I use containers to keep it there. It will attach to your bottom glass. LTAs need a safe place to protect their bodies or they will keep moving.

Put some sand in the glass container, i dont have a deep sand bed and do the same, they will stay in bowl that way.

So from what I've accumulated power heads should be off, I let him float around which I understand now isn't the same as letting him walk around.. so I picked a spot where my clownfish favors hoping it would be a good spot for the lta.. I've got him settled in a dug out against the bottom glass waiting for it to anchor. Is it a waiting game at this point? Also if anyone is concerned power heads are covered with that garlic netting made it anemone proof before hand as much as I could.

I'm going to try this method coupled with another's to just let him figure it out. I've got my power heads off and put him in a spot as described dug in so he can make contact with his foot on glass and right next to it is a nice tip of live rock to wedge into. Also I think his mouth is open now..

powerheads can still be used by covering them w the foam/netting that came with powerhead. btw, don't be surprised if clowns dont show any interest in the anemone bc mine took 5 years (no, this isn't a typo) before they found the anemones (yes, I've tried every trick in the book to no avail)... :disappointed-face:

From my tank this morning. One of my nems split and I found this guy getting sucked onto the nemguard. This is with the power head off to let it move away. Otherwise I just take the guard off the Powerhead and place the guard and nem near a rock.

So I tried the picture method and the tube method. He's seen it and wiggled on it but he shows no interest atm

at least urs "wiggled on it". I even tried keeping the clowns and anemone in a strainer for few days and still NOPE! Finally gave up and after 5 years the clowns started swimming and sleeping in the anemone...:confounded-face::beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

So I've left him alone now for 24 hours and if it wasn't for the cup he's in he'd be floating away idk what I'm doing wrong here..

Here's some pictures after lights are out clearly a healthy foot, however he won't anchor..

I had a LTA act similarly and thought the foot was ok as well. Mouth open, not attaching, yeah. I took a closer look and saw a little raw area right in the middle of the “sole” of the foot. Mr. Nem went into cipro treatment for ten days. When I added it back to the tank, I dug a little pit, place a small rock at the bottom, put the nem on top of it and buried the thing in sand and left just the mouth exposed. A few hours later, I gently poofed the rest of the sand away with a turkey baster. That nem hasn’t moved, has doubled in size and I swear its mouth has never closed. He’s the one furthest to the right. I actually used that same placement technique for the other LTA and the Purple Sebae in the middle and they stayed exactly where I placed them.

I'd let it be. unfortunately anemones will move until they find a spot they like. Keep an eye on it in case it walks on glass and into a powerhead
Are you sure that it is not a bubble tip anemone? Only reason I am saying this is because they prefer areas of more light on rock.

So there IS a treatment for it. Good I'll have to check out Cipro treatment mine is just exhibiting this behavior no matter where I put him.
