Is my anemone dying? He was hiding at the top of the tank for a while when I moved a rock and found him.

I remember years ago I had an anemone that was a spitting image like the one you posted and it was a goner. Is the foot still able to firmly attach to the rock? If it is just floating around and not attaching I would remove it before it deteriorates in the tank.

It was attached then I moved him then he reattached. He is still the same size

That is some good news then. I would give him some very small, fresh foods since he is very bleached. I am thinking pea sized about a couple times a week until he regains the zooxanthellae in the tissues.

How long was he hidden?

I think about 2 weeks his spot before he disappeared was kinda hidden so I didn't notice when the clowns stopped sleeping up there

Can you get some better pics under white lights? How deep is your sandbed? It’s a haddoni so it should be in a deep sand bed. Did you initially place it up in the rocks? How long have you had it?

I was going to say it looks like hadonni as well, and agree sand bed if that's what it is for sure, hard to tell as it does look pretty bad in pics, very bleached and no tentacles showing.

I agree qt may be best so it does not mush on you in display

It's just a green bubble tip. It was up high. I have a 175 gallon. Now I have it about 5 inches above the sand bed 9n rock work

This is what it looked like when I got him

Wow if that’s what it looked like when you bought it and the first post is what it looks like now that thing is in really bad shape buddy I would qt it and see if you can bring it back I haven’t seen one in that shape ever. It truly looks like a hadonni and no where near a bubble tip. I’ve had bubble tips hid in rocks for a long time and lose color but still have their tentacles never had one lose them totally will be following this thread to see where it goes

When he was good were you feeding him? Loss of tentacles is a sign of starvation. If you were feeding him what were you feeding him?
