Anemone emergency

Owning an anemone is apparently not for the faint of heart.

The only thing I did that would’ve changed anything was moved the powerhead yesterday.
We’re all just speculating here because your parameters are in good shape. I believe you changing the flow changed that anemones mind in his current real estate investment

I doubt a 32w fluval light will support a nem long term.
They require 200-300 par which you might find in using 150-200 watts per 24” cube.
Nevertheless, what you see is not necessarily a problem but if he starts coming apart like in the above pic, discard immediately.

It’s doing really well today so I freaked over nothing I guess. But do you have any light recommendations I just have a standard 20 gallon long and was looking to get the prime sol led light come tax time.

For just a few dollard more, I would get the Prime 16HD. The SOL just doesn't make sense to me at that price point.

Any suggestions on the setup of it like the % of what color I normally run blues and purples but I know there’s more on the prime and there’s also a UV setting which my light doesn’t have

I use CCB (Visparspectra) 165w which will light a 24” cube well, and a 20g, real well.
I don’t need all the controls and special effects in the super high price lights and these lights cost me $110 bucks and as shown below, can easy grow all types of corals, nems, and clams, even maximas.

I run 100% blue and 30% white on a 10 hours photoperiod and have never touched the light in 3 years now.

sometimes simpler is better.

What would you recommend the settings be for a 20 gallon. Would they be 100% blue and 20% white or lower?

It takes a bit of time to make it easy on corals.
Blue spectrum provides the lions share of light requirements, but a small amount of green and red is needed by some corals for the other two chlorophylls. Red is especially critical has it feeds algae as well. So, a little red is good, more may fuel an algae outbreak.

So my general rules are the white channel (which includes green and red) can be run in the15-30% range in comparison to blues. You might start with 40% blue and 15% white, then every two weeks, pop each up by 5% until you reach 100% blue, and 20-40% white.

For a 20g, you might only need to get to 70% blue, but I would stick with the 20%-30% white.

Provided no one starts to bleach out, or stays retracted for an unreasonable amount of time hold these numbers and never change them again.

Simply google VIsparspectra 165w, should be on amazon.

It’s important for the long life of your light to make sure it’s 10-15” off the water. In addition, this height allows for a better mix and diffuse of the light.

I provided the above pic so you can how corals grow under this light.

Hope
