Soooooo I’ve been wanting a magnificent sea anemone for a while...... I went to my LFS store and locked eye to tentacles with, at least I thought. The workers said they didn’t know what the anemone was but since they ordered a RBTA that’s what they selling it as. The owner is 99.9% it’s a magnificent sea anemone and he’s owned the store 25 years...... Of course I bought the anemone!!!!! Just want a little input from whomever for whatever info lol

That’s a great looking anemone. The white tips have the look of Magnifica. Here is a pic of mine. What color is the foot??? If you paid RBT price for this you got a great deal.

Thank you! Yours definitely looks like magnifica. If they charged you for a RBT you got a smoking deal. How long has the tank been set up? They LOvE flow and light so if you can move up higher mine has not moved from the top of the tank in almost a year that I got it. They can’t get enough flow and light. What do you have for lights???

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!! I will move her up and my tank has been up for a year and roughly 3 months! I have been very slow at adding because I take my time so that I can pay close attention to new additions, especially these beauties!

These are the lights I have! ONLY TEMPORARY! It has kept a GBT happy!

Ok! Moved her up and I’m hoping she moves to the rock in the pic! It will really make her color pop!

If it is in fact an H Magnifica Anemone, they only attach their foot to a smooth surface. Unlike a BTA who bury it deep into a rock. Just an FYI

If your not careful people will think you have a large Torch! That looks beautiful up there. Good luck :)

What are some signs of her being unhappy? You have had one for year plus and i would appreciate if you could give me some tips. She surely is different from GBT

Something to keep in mind, mine will deflate at least 2-3 times a week at night. So don’t worry if you see it closing up at night. It looks like it’s dying and the next morning it’s stunning and wide open. I think since 4 skunk clowns are feeding it maybe it’s cleaning up more than usual. I put it up high and gave it tons of random flow and light and it’s been happy for a year. I have flow coming from both sides and an Mp40 behind it so it’s getting movement from all directions and they seem to love that. In this pic you can see how high I have it in the tank.

If she is unhappy she may move. Let her if not in danger of course. Mine stayed pretty low where I put her in a standard 55 gallon under 250 W metal halide and then after a year suddenly went on the run all over the tank. I took that as a sign to change my bulb and she stayed put kind of middle to top after that. Beautiful specimen you have!

Thank you! Well, she was on the run, ended upside down, flipped that rock and still wasnt happy, now she has placed herself almost smack dab in the middle of my tank and she is about 4-5 inches above the sand bed........ very little flow. i just have a pair of "the black box" ODD behavior. i know she needs to acclimate and all of that jazz but just from what people have told me and what i have read this is just all odd! lol! guess is doesnt matter because she seems content.

I just got a Mag anemone a couple of months ago. Below is the reference I used for anything I wanted to know. To keep it from walking around, I had to put it on a smooth pedestal rock with lots of flow. My clownfish are now egg laying fools. There are eggs under it every week. Keep us updated on your progress.

I would leave it alone for now and not move it or flip rocks for awhile. If it is a mag, it will climb and as said they prefer flat areas to attach, high random flow, high light, etc. Usually people will make a pedestal-like formation to isolate the mag, if it can feel rocks next to it it will try to go higher. Also, make sure your powerheads and overflow are covered.

I think it needs more time to settle in. @OrionN I'm not really sure on the ID.

LOL, @saltyfilmfolks summed it up nicely when he said “Nems are weird.” So true.
