anemone is dying or dead?

my anemone is coloring up, no idea why it's doing this. it was all of a sudden, with the last two hours probably the light. Sorry for the trouble everyone, thanks, will update if things get bad again
Nems do strange things. They change shape size and split and a number of others. I’ve kept bubble tips in high nitrate tanks and they did great. I think they like some nitrates, but ultimately stability is key. Adequate lighting is a must. Definitely consider that if you keep having issues. They should be good looking with lights on 90% of the time or more.

That nem bta doesn't have alot of color. It's partly bleached. It should have an almost brownish tint. I think your lighting may be a bit to bright or dim

So try turning up/down the lights?

Same nem boy have. It's easy to see the difference in color. Yours has a loss in pigment.

I’m sure you likely need more light. Can’t say for sure without more info. I’m guessing he was that color when you got him. They are often bleached do you harvesting and transit.
got it from LFS, looked basically the same

I normally keep my lights on from 7:30 to 8:45. Too short?
no, that is actually too long but what light fixtures are you running? They probably need to be replaced for higher par units

don't know, threw the box out. Only thing I could find was the white temp and the blue wavelength in nm's

Post a picture of your light, how it sits above the tank so we can see how far off the water it is and what kind of light it is. What pet store? A salt water store or a petco that doesn't have the best lighting for marine species.

im gonna guess they were pretty cheap then and not really fit for anemones long term health unfortunately. But post a pic just in case maybe they will work

smatfarms are (really were $100 originally) cheap, as are noopsyche but not terrible lights quality wise, a lot higher than black box it seems

which light do you reccomend? Someone earlier recommended the AI.

They came with my AIO. Might have been innovative marine. Will find out later

ecotech, reefi, orphek, kessil, etc there are a lot out there with a good reputation brand wise. Cheaper units would be the smatfarms or noopsyche and then you get to the cheapest and lowest quality black (but definitely still work... i personally dont trust em to have them in my house). Lots of research to be done with just that list, but it comes down to preferences for unit design, spread, shimmer, and light color and more importantly budget

did more research, my lights work fine. I moved them to shine down on the anemone specifically and he colored up within hours.

post a pic anyway just to be sure, you shouldnt need to move your lights ever for the anemone, also it probably didnt color up in a few hours considering it is bleached and that isnt how that works, most likely the blue light directly over it makes it look like it has more color than it really does.
It will really depend on the fixture itself(most important), mounting distance, and depth of the tank to determine if the light will actually be beneficial long term for photosynthetic organisms

I can't find that out until Sunday, but it should be okay
