So l was watching my clowns swim through the anemone when l noticed the mouth look kinda funny. So l took a picture and investigated and it almost looks like a porous rock. Lots of small “holes”. Any ideas?

Very strange I have a rbta very similar to this but the mouth is thick when eating and sucked in tight throughout the day. Up close it looks like the mouth has shriveled up lips all around the edges it’s not a lot of small holes because there’s only one mouth but I’ve definitely never seen this before in the two years I’ve been raising anemones.

IT might be bleaching out , how long have you had it ?? Can you give Some more info over Your set up !

Yea so I’ve had mine for 2 years and it’s in a bio cube I’ve seen it split 14 times sometimes under stress when I’ve changed flow or aquascape or just simply a hard fluctuation in water perameters. Your anemones doesn’t look like it’s bleaching to me because the rest of the body looks quite dark. That little white spot in the middle has kidna always been there with mine and if I give it to much light that white spot spreads out and the animal will lighten up a lot. I feed my anemones once a week sometimes once every 2 weeks they seem to favor scallop meat over shrimp meat so I’ve been feeding it straight scallop meat for the last year and I got some pics but my only advise is to maybe post this again and keep your eye on it keep looking for anemone owners someone is bound to have seen this before

No, it’s not bleaching. l have had an Anemone go up in smoke. It went back to normal after and hour or so. Just thought it was something interesting to share! Both of my Anemones get fed every other day and are always extended and welcoming all 5 Clowns. The white specks in the color pattern also went back and spread out more. Parameters are as follows:

PH 8.1
Ammonia, Nitrite 0ppm
Nitrate 160ppm
Phosphate 2.0ppm
Calcium 500
ALK 10
Magnesium 1400
Temp 79
SG 1.025

Your phosphate is a little high ..are you running gfo or Anything ?

Both my nutrients are considered high. l am not currently taking any action to bring them down. l was running Biopellets, carbon dosing, large WC. They wouldn’t budge so l left them. L am running the refugium and leaving it be. Everything is happy and no algae issues so I’m not to concerned.

Nitrates are high to and how long have you been feeding them every other day. That seems like an aweful lot off feedings in comparison but I have heard people feed there’s twice a week. How long have you had your anemone is this the only one in your tank

What kind of filter media are you using

I use filter floss that gets switched every water change and a bunch of marine pure and a small amount of purigen. Sometimes carbon or gfo
