Where I’ve had access to the foot, I’ve been able to get them to release using Ice Cubes.

New split. Great idea

Your mileage may vary, but they can only stretch so far. I think that the smallish hole in the sponge constricts them and makes them uncomfortable in that position.

So your saying to cut a smaller hole in a sponge and press it over the nem and make it squeeze thru the sponge and onto the tube ?

Just wanted to show off my anemone removal invention.

All you need is a piece of foam, a plastic cup and two long rubber bands. Cut a hole in the foam, cut off the bottom of the cup and make holes for the rubber bands.

Then, simply annoy the anemone until it closes up enough to put the foam over it. Finally, place the cup over the foam and use the rubber bands to hold it in place. The anemone will just walk out...

It’s not often you see an idea so elegantly simple, and you’re just like, “Oh.”

brilliant!

Awesome your homework for tonight is to figure out how to get rid of aptasia. Get on it.

Love the idea
Ice inside plastic bag against foot, they will let go

The whole ice floats thing can make that method a real pain in the rear. In the past I've just hung them over a bucket, which with a bit of patience always worked for me. But I've been using the PVC tube method recently and I think it's gentlest method possible to move/remove a bta. The rubber bands and foam solves a lot issues.

I found using cold RODI or saltwater in a syringe and pointing at it’s foot will make it detach!

definitely keeping this idea in the back of the noggin. Recently had to rotate an entire rock to get move a nem back from stinging things.

genius.
someone (not me) will patent this and make millions.
now I need to figure out how to make it work for the nem on my back glass.
use a credit card and scrap it off slowly

Using ice is such a pain. Ive found trying to get a super buoyant bag of ice to sit perfectly against the foot of a nem for a long period of time is incredibly inefficient.

That's why ice is off my easy list, as well as the other ways. Best way so far is kalk. to get it to release but it is messy. The PVC tube might be the ticket! Trying it tonight.

Just gotta be patient with the pvc, might take a full light cycle or two.

Awesome idea! Thanks for sharing!! I have two types splitting and growing like mad in my tank that I need to do this on! I have 4 to remove!!

Simple is true genius.
