So new problem with another angel. Juvenile Queen Angel (about 3” long) that I’ve had for about 6 months has stopped eating for the past 3 days. No diet changes and water parameters are better now than before. Only change I can think of is the introduction of mappa puffer, which I’ve QT’ed with CopperSafe and General Cure. Oddly enough, the Queen Angel gets excited when it sees me prepping food but quickly loses interest once food is added. Does anyone have any advice?
Sounds like its intimidated by the puffer. I would make sure to add a lot of food at once on opposite ends so it doesnt feel threatened. Although that does seem odd. I would also try adding a few clams on the half shell on opposite sides of the tank. Both to see if it eats it and to distract the puffer when feeding.

Have you seen any white, stringy poop? Is the stomach thin/pinched? Any other symptoms?

Any twitching? shaking head? scratching? flashing? swimming in to powerheads? spots? "dusting", cloudy eyes, red marks, wounds?

Hehe that’s funny to imagine my puffer as intimidating. It’s actually quite shy and spends most of its time being fat, lazy, and lounging about somewhere. But I’ve heard angels like clams (as will my trigger, wrasse, and puffer), so I’ll give those a try.

No stringy, white poop. Stomach’s actually quite round and full. Yes there’s head twitching and some scratching. Another thing I’ve noticed is that there’s some discoloration on one of its gill covers. I’ll get some pics when I can. I’ve dosed the DT with General Cure just in case of internal parasites.

In the main tank? General Cure contains metro and prazi, prazi is "reef safe" but metro is not.

Twitching is often flukes, I would handle with prazi in a DT...

Clams are a good source of food. I just buy them fresh from a local fish market. Freeze them and feed to the fish. They go nuts.
Live blackworms and clams. And try omitting the garlic and/or selcon. If its pecking, masstick might work.

My DT(main) is FOWLR, which is why I thought General Cure can be aptly used.

Metro probably didn't do anything in that case, other than potentially kill off some of the "live" in the live rock. Chances are it was absorbed quickly. I highly recommend using Prazi next time. General Cure contains less prazi, so for flukes it is typically less effective, anyhow.

I doubt it did a lot of damage, but I wouldn't do it again.

Prazi 5-7 days apart, with the skimmer off for 24 hours after each application would be ideal.

Many years ago I had a queen that grew very large and I went through several clown triggers because when they would get large the queen would stop eating so I would trade it off for a small one, and then it would grow large and same thing. I went through three clown triggers

My queen angels have never been intimidated by anything. Interesting story!

I have a nasty sohal that chases my large angels around (and is much smaller than them) but my queen eats voraciously.

Fortunately, I have some leftover Prazipro leftover so I’ll try using just that in the DT. So you’re suggesting that metro (in GC) isn’t useful in my case b/c there’s no indication of intestinal parasites?

My juvenile Queen has been living with a much larger Niger trigger without being intimidated by it. In fact, the Queen has been known to pick fights and can hold its own against bigger tankmates

Metro in the water column isn’t very useful for treating internal parasites but particularly in the case of a display tank— antibiotics are absorbed/removed by just about everything.

Would it be OK to use General Cure and Prazipro at the same time, or is there a risk of overdosing?

There’s no point in doing so as it’s redundant if you wish to use more Prazi you can dose more, a double dose is often used for stubborn flukes.

Instead of using metro for treating internal parasites, is there something else I can use that’s “reef-safe” and won’t get absorbed/removed?

No.

Well, my juvenile regal angel is now super skinny. Whenever I drop food in there (currently feeding OC Angel Formula), it would take a few nibbles at it and then ignore it the rest of the time. I’m concerned it might not survive QT. I’m not sure what to do. I’ve tried all types of food (frozen brine, mysis, Masstick, Nori, pellets) but so far, it’s only accepted OC Angel Formula but even so, it’s not voraciously devouring it. Can anyone offer some advice?
