So I have some Bryopsis growing in my 45 Gallon tank. I am about to order Reef Flux from BRS. I have a santa monica algae scrubber and not sure do i leave it in the tank or what do i do with it? If I leave it in there the reef flux will kill the algae in the scrubber?

will flux kill bubble algae? anyone know how to kill bubble algae?

you can dose both same time? or should i do flux first then vibrant?

Dose at same time. Flux follow directions, I believe it’s I cap(200mg) per 10 gallons. But please check directions I’m not 100% on that.

Vibrant is 1mL per 10gal. I would dose twice a week. Vibrant is tricky though. How much bubble algae is there?

not too much spots here and there like 1.5 inches circle, i have like 5 like that

i heard foxface will eat bubble or emerald crab?

Scrub the bubble algae with a toothbrush while siphoning the water out next time you do a water change.

If you have sps I would be leery about running both vibrant and flux together. I've heard stories about both causing issues individually. I've never personally had an issue using flux, but vibrant any time I've tried it over the years has faded my acros.

Also of you do decide to run the flux I would take the refugium off the loop for the duration of the treatment. Remove carbon but o would continue use of the skimmer. Keep an eye on your po4 while the treatment is running bc as the algae dies off it will release phosphates back into you water. So be prepared to remove, with media or chemically. If you do a water change make sure add the dose of flux to the water volume of the changed water.

Ya don’t do that^. That will spread the algae everywhere.

thanks for the warning. i think i will do reef flux and a emeral crab and see how that works out. I dont want to overdoes tank with both vibrant and flux.

I can't get to all the bubble algae with a toothbrush so crab might be best option. Do emeral crabs go after any acans or zoas?

I edited my previous post so go back and check it out. Lol

Emeralds can go after any of those corals. So my suggestion for them is get 1 or 2, let them do their job and once they're done they live in the refugium, or they get passed on to someone who needs them. Theres lots of people who have never had any issues with them, I dont keep them anymore bc when they get big, I had one take out a goby. My dad had them for bubble algae and thought they were cool to leave in the tank, they would hide in caves and come out at night. And then he caught one trying to eat his clams mantle , and the other one was acting like a lawnmower to his zoa colonies. Clipping the polyps off and just letting them float around the tank. Lol. So that's my experience with them.

why continue using skimmer? i think they say to not use skimmer?

It's how I've done it since before reef flux, we always got the fluconazole tablets and crushed them and used 1-200mg tablet per 10 gallons of twv. I always left the skimmer running bc sometimes you need to maintain the dose for up to 2 or 3 weeks in the system. Depending on what algae your going after. Briopsis is fairly quick, gha and turf will take a few weeks but will turn white and die back. I never had any adverse effects by leaving it on, and with a heavy fish bio load I never wanted to create a nitrate spike or o2 depletion bc the skimmer isnt running.

cool. I have little bryopsis and trying to nip it in the but before it becomes a issue.

I dont want to come off like I'm telling you what you what to do or my way is the only way. Just giving you my experiences. I've made lots of mistakes over the years. And I'm sure I will make many more in the future. But I am not just passing along information I read somewhere, im just trying to offer you some options.

I appreciate it and this is why i am on here to get first hand experience. I am going to try Reef Flux first and get the Emerald crab, once he is finished I can sell or trade him back in.

If you pop the bubble it will disperse spores and spread quickly. If you are able to syphon them as you are popping I guess that could work.

But yes emeralds will consume corals if given the opportunity.
