Another JBJ 45 build!

Did you use a mix of 1x4's and 1x6's for the frame or is it all 1x4's? It's hard to tell by the photo.

I believe it's all 1x6's. I don't remember buying 2 kinds. I will take some measurements later and let you know though!

Those small holes in the back do indeed equalize the front and back of the tank. I tested it.
The build looks fantastic. People complain about the stock stand and since I don't have the tools to make one ( and I can't cut a straight line if my life depended on it) I bought the stock stand and lined the sides and top with two rows of 1x 3 strong enough

Also think about replacing the stock two pumps with only one. You can get y adapter from Marine depot ( watch their build on the JBJ.

I did and mine is much quieter. But I went further and bought a cube sump and overflow and I love it

Wow that was an old post Bob. I did not end up plugging the holes.

The stock media baskets and pumps are working well for me still. It's quiet as can be. I will replace them with a single pump one day, probably only if one of these goes out.

Pulled a monti and a favia from quarantine today. Also placed a live aquaria order for a rose BTA, a Duncan and my 1st acro, a DFS blue blizzard. Pretty excited.

Guadua, sorry forgot all about you. I'll have an answer for you tomorrow though.

They all measure 3/4"X4 1/4", so all 1X5's

On a side note, anyone else having problems with the r2r app? It's been unusable for the last couple days.

I've had this tank for five years now. While it's a great tank it has many flaws. If I could go back in time I would have gone a different route. One being the stand. These have a habit of corner cracks and jbj won't warrenty without using their stand. The stand is crap. The back chambers, all were different sizes due to not being careful and I had to take them all apart and reglue to fit equipment in. The pumps are crap, throw them right away and get something that works. The tank is deep but not so wide which makes one kessil 360 fairly worthless it would seem. There is a place in the back chamber that is impossible to reach, I finally blew it out and the amount of crap it trapped was the main reasons for my nitrates. All in all it's served me well. In fact the first one they shipped was broken, I had a piece of glass made and siliconed it and use it for freshwater. So bonus?

I've had it for nearly a year, it's a good tank. Though I've read horror stories of some splitting at the corners, so I fall asleep every night with my fingers crossed. I didn't purchase the stand, and I went with a single puck radion. Seems to be fine.

All my chambers seem to be the same size, but they're not completely sealed. I noticed that area you're talking about before I filled it up and thought it was weird. I went through a stage of sponges during the uglies, those places could be full of them still. I don't have a nitrate problem though.

I also still use the stock pumps.

All in all, I think I would recommend this tank to a beginner like me. It's served me very well and helped me learn a lot about the hobby. [emoji1303][emoji1303]
