Another Qt setup ???

QT doesn't need to come to a full cycle. Try pouring Bio-Spira on a sterile sponge for a few days. That will get you started. Or use a sponge from your parasite-free display tank. Make sure you have an ammonia badge.

OK I had to breakout the red sea test kit as the badge barely showed a color difference. I got a .4 AM reading ! Only time in a tank's life You want to see those numbers ! Any way, I poured my little bottle of Fritz turbo start in there. Man that stuff be stinky ! So now I have no more reasons to procrastinate getting this butterfly out & begin treatment. I'm more than a little apprehensive about doing this I don't want to blow it . Still have a few things to pick up. PVC fittings .air stones, reread the instructions and make some notes. So I expect to have a pic of the butterfly in tank #1 for ttm by this weekend.

@cracker Any meds (like copper) in the water when you tested? If so, you were likely just getting a false positive ammonia reading.

No Sir, . No meds or copper involved. Just the badge didn't match the Red Sea results. No biggie. On a side I almost used the pump that was used with the contaminated tank water to mix water for the 75. I caught it at the last moment ! Gotta pay attention to all details with this. !

Tragedy has struck ! I found the Butterfly just now & the snails were having their way it. I was out and eating yesterday. Today gone. I most likely waited too long .That's 2 butterfly's Iv'e lost now. So at this point I have a pair of clowns in a 180 full of rock & infected with ich. I feel really bad right now. Not sure what I'm going to do. I'll be back.

Ok Folks, Iv'e gotten over my Pity Party . I Know I don't have any other option other than removing the clowns . I haven't been feeling well lately so it will be next weekend. It's going to be a real pain . So I will use the ttm. I have everything I need. Clowns are tough fish so I think They will be OK. I just hate to disturb them in their rock pile .

so every thing is ready for the TTM except the fish of course. Still trying to get the Qt to cycle.

Ok, For the time being I'm not going to remove the clowns & treat them at least for a while. I won't bore You with details but I'm just not feeling well at this time. To be honest I'm not sure what I'll end up doing . I do have everything I need to treat a fish. I don't have a dewormer or such. I do have a 20 long qt where I can say "every new fish I ever buy " will spend some time in 1st ! So this 180 has been up & running for over a year now. I have manged to place only 2 fish some hermits , snails & 2 shrimp ! It's ok it will happen when it does. I still have the 75 That needs some fish. I'll work on that for the time being. Also I want to really thank all You Folks that gave me Your time to answer my queries ! :)
