Anthias Has brown stuff on his Skin!!

I recently purchased an Anthias from my lrf several days ago and dropped it my Dt. I trust my LRF quarantine procedures. Which they use cupramine and prazi pro and I know for sure that they do. Now back today, he has this brown stuff on his pectoral fin and scales/skin. Does anyone know what this is? Is it a fungi? he still swimming and eating like normal and my other fish do not have this.

It's not something I've really seen before. I don't keep any anthias though. It looks like the start of a bacterial infection/fin rot. Do you have a QT?

My guess is bacterial if anything. Is it getting progressively worse rather quickly? Slowly? How long has it taken to go from completely orange to what we see here?

It seems to be getting worse over slowly and i only had him for 5 days, I have melafix and priamfix if that helps. Though bad thing is that all my qt tanks are all in use of corals and inverts rn.

Unfortunately, I can't see the picture. Any chance you have some fungus growing on the underside of your rockwork that it could be rubbing up against?

Im 99.9% sure I do not have fungus nor does he rub on rock work.

Figured that was the case. I know I get some funky stuff up under my rocks that can mark up and stick to my tangs some times.

It does sound like antibiotics are going to be the best course of action.
If it were possible to confirm it as fungal, Fluconazole is typically reef safe and would likely treat it. Not to mention kill any Bryopsis and GHA in your system.

Melafix and pimafix don’t do anything, IME.

I would go the antibiotic route. I generally use the “trifecta” (kanaplex, metroplex, and furan 2).

Antibiotics in a reef you risk, reducing o2 levels or affecting the biological filter organisms negatively. Also harder observe the fish’s progress.

That said if really cant qt the fish, erythromycin is used in reef tanks as red slime remover. Available from api as EM erythromycin.

skimmer on with cup off and power heads near the surface. I would watch the tank very closely the first day. Any signs of heavy breathing, hiding, or other abnormal behavior; wc and start running carbon.

Also not actually recommending this route.

Degradation is also a major concern when using in a tank with LR/sand.

While true fungus disease is rare in saltwater fish, this may be one of those cases based on your description (can't see the picture). Consider using Sulfaplex (triple sulfa) as it works well on these types of disease. But must be used in a QT and no copper at all can be in the tank. Like Sulfaplex as it does less damage to the fish's kidneys. Which can effect the fish's overall health long term. Can combine with Neoplex for a broader spectrum approach if necessary.

Great, I can see the new pictures.

I'm not seeing any shredding which is good. Do you see any signs of it being raised or textured?

Any chance it could be hyper-melonization?

Does it look rough, fuzzy, lumpy, or any other sign something is growing over the surface of the skin? Or is it only discoloration?

No there aren't any anemones and I just added the first LPS two days ago so prob no I just transfered my coral qt into a qt for for this guy so Ima begin transferring him as soon as possible. I suppose I'll try to treat with antibiotics.
