Any "large" reef safe angels?

Bellus and Masked Swallowtail are considered reef safe angels and have kept both without issue.

There are always exceptions. I had a buddy who's regal tank started going after coral. Coops had 2 regals in his 180 mixed reef.

In general, it's risky adding angels to reef tanks, including the Asfer, as most are not considered reef safe. But as others have stated, there are always exceptions.

Large angels can be kept with sps, mushrooms, most euphyllia, and usually leathers.

It's riskier to keep large angels with zoas and fleshy lps.

We have regal, blue face, goldflake and flame angels along with a moorish idol (and other fish that dont fall into the "reef safe with caution" category ) in an sps dominant tank without issues. I believe one key is keeping everyone well fed - we autofeed NLS pellets 2x/day, diy frozen blend and nori daily. These are my wife's favorites so we planned the tank accordingly ( if momma ain't happy...). Has worked well so far.

Any of the Genicanthus species of angelfish will be fine; and they grow larger than the dwarf species.
I have had my Lamarck's Angelfish in my reef for over three years without any issues towards corals and inverts.
And (s)he's over 5" in length; transitioning to a male.

And, as mentioned, keeping them well fed helps curb their appetite towards tasting your corals.

We have a couple of frogspawn and leathers, mushrooms, ricordia as well as sps that have not been bothered. The picture below doesn't show the angels but gives an idea of the corals in our tank.

Many angels would work assuming you let them dictate what coral you can and cannot keep.

The most "iffy" corals have been covered already IME.

IMO they should be added to an established mature reef with colonies. Frags stand little chance with many angels.

Maybe not quite "Large" but Wantanabe Angles do well in mixed reefs in my experience. I have two of them in such a tank now. They are beautiful fish as well...

I don't have much experience with angelfish but I will agree you want to have established colonies. From what I've read no angel is truly reef safe but...
I've also read the occasional nipping on sps corals may limit p.e but encourages more growth.
Like I said not in my experience but that is what I've read!
Good luck:)

What size is your tank and how long have you had the Moorish Idol? What does he eat?

210 gallons. Have had the idol for about 10 months in which time he has more than doubled in size. He eats NLS pellets, diy frozen and nori. He was eating at an LFS who ordered him for us. He came from HI.

Let me know if you had any luck with large angels and mixed reefs.
My experience is all angels will pick at clams. Dwarf and large Angels .
Majestic is very safe with everything else.
Asfur safe except with open brain and clams.
Bandit is the most likely to sample SPS.
Dwarf angels safe except with clams.
Soft coral, mushrooms, zoanthids seem resistant to Angels.
