Any "large" reef safe angels?

I find it odd if u cut a zoa or paly they release palyotoxin but not when there eatn? Or is it just certain palys that do. Cause I see people glove up fragging em and I don't. I'm careful and use a bucket with water 2 frag em in so here submerged not on a table. Not thread jacking but just curious.

I can't speak to the technical aspects of whether some zoas or palys don't produce palytoxin or produce more or less or whether there is a trigger for roducing the palytoxin.

However, I have seen certain fish consume zoas without any visible consequences.

My experience is all angels will pick at clams. Dwarf and large Angels .
Majestic is very safe with everything else.
Asfur safe except with open brain and clams.
Bandit is the most likely to sample SPS.
Dwarf angels safe except with clams.
Soft coral, mushrooms, zoanthids seem resistant to Angels.

How big was the majestic? What types of coral was it kept with?

Bottom line: there is no absolute with Angels (or most fish for that matter). We had a majestic in a mixed reef a few years ago that decided that donut corals were a favorite so he had to be rehomed as they were my wife's favorite corals. In our current tank we found that zoas were viewed as a nice snack (an experiment that didn't end well for a couple of zoa colonies) and yet we've had literally dozens of sps frags in the tank with no damage (so far!). There certainly are generalizations like the great experiences folks have shared in this thread but it often comes down to individual animals and what concessions we are willing to make (like letting them choose which corals we keep as stated above) to make it work.

Regal Angel is Reef Safe
Agreed, my Regal Angel is reef safe, no issues and I've had him for about 6 months. When I first got him, he was nipping at a few LPS before I got him eating, and he would not eat anything floating from the water column. Finally I put select clam strips in a veggie clip and he began grazing on them. Eventually he began eating nori off the clip as well and every since he started eating from the clips I've never seen any evidence of nipping any corals.

Angels are always hit or miss. It depends allot on your tank setup. I have a Regal that took an interest in my scolys and then just stopped one day and hasn't bother any of my other LPS or Softies. I've heard other folks say their Regal chowed down on all of their LPS and softies. The biggest thing is to get them to eat as soon as possible, it's a good idea to have some of their natural diet in your tank. I made sure I had a bunch of sponges and tunicates in my tank for the Regal I got. By the time it had finished off the natural diet items it is eating everything I put in there now.
