Any teenage reefers?

I myself am a teenager, but I have studied a ton about the hobby.
Have been in the hobby for less than a year, but have been heavily invested in it. Currently working as a young employee at a reef store and it’s great; I’m starting to think of career choices related to the hobby since I think I’d find use in my knowledge.

Only bone of contention is that nobody really takes me seriously because of my age. They find me cute or think I must not know what I’m talking about.

Can’t really say teens are “attached to their screens.” I am too, just doing different things. It’s a hobby. Teens have hobbies. I’m not any better than any other teen. I just like fish, that’s all.

One thing I’ve been told as I’m aiming for a marine biologist but would also love to work in an LFS is:
Aim for one and have the other(s) as a sideline.

I too have had that time where nobody takes me serious in person, on here you can kind of hide your age if you want to. funny thing is though, make friends and talk with your LFS’s manager or workers. That’s what I did and now whenever me and my dad walk into the LFS we stay to chat and honestly, if you ever get asked about it then show them what you know. It may pay off :)

This would be useful except for the fact that I've been to three LFSs near me and I only trust one— the one I work at! lol. Will keep in mind though : )

Did you have party lines?
When I was little, I had 2 cousins that did. Nicki would get SO mad when the neighbors were talking on the phone when she wanted to make a call!! She would eves drop on other people's conversations, and then get paranoid that the neighbors were doing the same thing.

I had another couple of cousins that didn't have a party line, but still had an outhouse and a hand pump in the kitchen. They had the big wash tub hanging on the wall in the kitchen, and boiled water to bath in. Everyone pretty much used the same water. Sounds gross but didn't seem so bad back then. Every time I stayed with them; the outhouse would be in a different place.

Sounds rough. We all had our farm chores to do, but I had the greatest time visiting the cousins!

Wont hijack the thread anymore but yes good times! Scared me as a kid realizing others could hear your conversations. Or the line would be congested lol.

Odd, you said in early may 2021 it was 3 months old, meaning you got it in February, so when the tank was 1 year old it was February 2022, 1/2 a year is 6 months and 6 months more than february is August 2022 so it is 1.5 years old not 2.

Probably in school and it’s impossible to know if someone is a teen. So I could claim to be a teen but a old pervert
School doesn’t start till next week here anyways .
Being in my early 40’s I wish I was a teen , but with the life knowledge I have today

Ah now that i look at the pic- that is my second tank

I was a teenage reefer-in the 1980's. Of course I had an undergravel filter and the tank was decorated with bleached coral skeletons (literally-would remove and bleach them once every month or so to keep them pristine)...so I'm not sure if that really counts. I did have a few inverts-tube worms etc-but not any of what we would consider real corals today. :)
