Any Thoughts On The Klir Filter?

9 days into the Klir Filter

I asked on their FB post about the orientation and they said with the bevel vertical so water doesn't stay on it. My first night and mine advanced a bit, but I had the unit turned 90 degrees so the sensor was closer to the intake. I turned it so we'll see. It was also the first night. My tank is like crystal clear now. I'm pretty impressed. I'm using their bracket/stand in a gen 1 Eshopps RS-100. My only problem was water level when the tank was shut down, it would run continuous. I put it on the outlet with my skimmer to solve that one.

Dramatic change..

Day 8 on the second roll.. not much of it left.. its now rolling every 20 minutes [emoji4] [emoji4] [emoji4]
As i said before its a reefer 170 like sump.. 320 gph flow..the fleece is always submirsed within the water.. and the first roll consumed within 6.5 days.. it was turning every 3 to 5 min..

Doing a simple calculation: one roll will last now at least 24 days [emoji2] [emoji2] .. hope it will get just better with time..

Can you please explain more in detail what modification you did to the base plate and what you did with the acrylic ?

I am assuming you inserted a small acrylic strip across to raise the water level but why did you need to modify the base plate. I thought the Klir filter should slip right in.

Do you have pics of the baffle you made for the water accumulation. I’m thinking of buy this unit for my RSR250.

that’s right a strip of acrylic across to rise the water level when it gets clogged. the smallest plate that comes with the klir is too big therefore you’ll need to trim it to fit

How much of it did you trim ? Do you have a pic ?

Sorry no pic, you have to measure and mark it, once it sits on the tray you’ll see how much needs to be trimmed

After the initial cleaning period the fleece seems to be advancing every 20-30 minutes now. After two days I find the usage to be reasonable give that we feed a bit on the heavy side. I did pick up a few spare rolls of fleece at the LFS this weekend to ensure that I have replacements when needed. I will try to provide a more accurate estimate of my usage as time progresses.

I have also modified how my adapter mounts to the sump. I initially used x-small M-D weather stripping and while this has worked well on the vertical pieces it did not seal well on the horizontal area around the filter sock openings. I have removed the weather stripping from that area and drained enough of my sump to dry that surface. Once dry I replace the weather stripping in the horizontal area with Gorilla 15lb mounting tape.

I also put Klir filter in and I am having problems! Do you have any pictures of how you did your modifications.. I'm also fighting with a reefer 350 and a Klir filter!! If I could see what you have done might be a great help..

Good catch, it should be the TS input. Wonder if the PS side is for the future slave units so it'll function the same.

Mine hasn't worked since the day I got it. The roll would just completely roll up only way to stop it was to unplug the motor. Coralvue sent me a new sensor and that didnt fix it. Waiting on a new controller 2 weeks now. Hope it comes in stock soon. Spent 250$ and have yet to get to use it.
