I am attempting to keep a Potters angel in my 75g, he was purchased about 3 weeks ago and still not eating!!!!

He does graze on the rocks and the back panel of my tank all day and I did see him poo several times yesterday so I know he’s not starving since I have a lot of LR and been tryin to bring my No3 up I have been getting a bit more of algae than usual will. Ha be enoug for now ? He’s goin on 3 weeks without eating BUT! He does act like he’s about to eat when the automated feeder goes off(pellets) I’m not sure if he acts Iike this because all my other fishes go crazy when they hear the sound of the feeder they all hover under the feeder so does the angel, I feed my tank pellets formula 1&2, flakes, mysis, brine, reef frenzy and ocasiónally PE Calanus which everyone goes crazy except for him, any tips or tricks on getting him interested in some foods ?

I also do algae sheets for my tang but nothing he just grazes the rocks and back of the tank

Potters is one of the toughest dwarf angels. Very often they just graze the rocks when first acquired - which is why it is so important to have rocks. Just keep offering a variety of frozen fare and the odds are that at some point it will start eating some of it. Brine or ova (if you can find it) are good choices too.

Our coral beauty wouldnt take any offered foods for at least a month but like angel, it grazed on the rock and was just fine. Never got skinny and eventually took to anything offered (literally).

I saw some frozen eggs at my local petco I will swing by today and try those, this guys is beautiful!!! I want him to make it, he’s very outgoing as well when I put the turkey Baster to feed he’s not scare of it all when I squeeze what ever frozen I feed that’s what scares him, idk where can I find live black worms here in NYC

At the beginning I wasn’t worry because he started grazing right away after my tang was removed but it’s been 3 weeks and he doesn’t even attempt to taste the food my previous battles with anthias they would At least eat it and spit it back out this guy nothing! Smh

My dwarf didn't eat until I fed her Ocean Nutrition Pygmy Angel formula. Not to say blackworms or eggs won't help but my angel likes greens more so than meats.

I wouldn’t worry. Mine did the same for at least two months. The other fish will teach it to eat. Now it eats anything.

Omega 1 flakes did it for me. Mine didn’t touch anything frozen in the first 10 days and someone suggested flakes, worked within a day or 2.

I have prime reef flakes,

I will try the SF bay frozen eggs and the angel formula this weekend see if he reacts to it my local petco has them

2 months!!!! How big is your system ? I have a ton of rock for him to Graze but I wanna get him eating additional ASAP

My Potters Angelfish loved formula 2 pellets by ocean nutrition, he like the big ones cause he could pick at them, and easy reef masstick. Maybe try Angelfish formula foods too which contain sponges and algae

It's good he went into a mature tank, the potter's can be tough to eat from the water column. So feeding live stuff like pods, brine shrimp, and black worms is a good idea. Then mix some live brine with frozen brine and mysis, try smashing some masstick or ocean nutrition cubes with the gel binder into the rocks. Once they start nibbling on the dead stuff with the live stuff, they'll start to settle in.

Live Blackworms, rods, clam on a half shell or live mussels, and live brine work almost always for me with finicky fish.

If all else fails, force feeding often works . After a few times, they get the idea and start eating on their own .

I haven't seen my coral beauty eat anything I've fed except nori on a clip. She grazes on the rocks all day. She might have gone after a little LRS, but I'm not even sure of that. I've had her for a few months and she's still healthy.

My Coral Beauty was the same way for a few days and then took to frozen reef frenzy.

So far nothing I tried frozen eggs and Butterly/Angel from S.F. bay but nothing so far, but I saw poo again today so I guess I’m still good, I got 2 wrasse also yesterday eating like pigs already they loving all the extra frozen smh hopefully sooner than later

Going on 4 weeks grazing all day
