Anybody excited about your aquarium?

For those of you with bigger tanks, I would assume that going from a 150g to a 300g would be twice the work - am I correct about that?

Not really twice the work, but almost twice the cost with upgrading existing equipment, stocking and then the ongoing maintaining with salts, additives, carbon, gfo, light bulbs and the list can go on and on

I'm upgrading tanks, so I'm excited!
I'm setting up a 35x35x16.5 rimless. I got the steel stand yesterday and hopefully I'm getting the tank tomorrow. Starphire glass on all four sides, even the back where it's black lol.

Its that time of year when it starts to get cold outside and the reef tank becomes important again. In the winter their is nothing better to do than work on and add onto a beautiful reef tank.

I love the dopamine high of all the purchases of putting together a new tank but the cost of making the 40b is depressing, I really want the SWC cone skimmer and the killer LED's, reactors...etc... the list goes on but it's a slow road to keep the wife happy/not ticked off

For some reason while I have been on vacation I have thought about my aquarium and have been getting excited about making a few changes, doing a little work, and adding some new fish.

Is it the time of year or is it just me? :nerd:

I some aspects I agree. Others, not so much. I did have to add 1 more Dart and a Snapper, when I upgraded to the 300. Stock list was pretty much the same and I added a few, here and there, that I have wanted for years anyway. It also gave me much more room to add new corals. I don't dose or use carbon or GFO. I went to LEDs so that saved me money. I don't have to worry, near as much, of little things killing the whole tank.

i want to see a shop owners build... i wana see what equip they use etc... i think i have an idea of whats used, but it would be a great way to pick up a couple tips without asking

When we go on vacation I find myself checking out all the LFS where ever we go. Its a sickness! It also gives me ideas like you mentioned.

i think its because our lfs's in arizona suck, i find myself doing the same thing.

My experience this week has been horrible. I recently moved everything into my new 280 and am losing all of it! It started when my CBB died in the temp tank and started an ammonia cycle. The corals I added from that tank, although they looked fine, started dying within 24 hours and took everything with them. I've lost a 10 pound A. willisae colony, a 8" pink lemonade colony, dinner plate-sized Palmer's blue mille, basketball-sized pocillopora, volleyball-sized ORA stylophora, golfball-sized shades of fall, my hard to acquire Kedd's acro, and several other mini colonies of LE acros and montis. It is just making me sick at the moment and I'm afraid it is not over yet. Ob la di, ob la dah, as a famous group once said...

Ouch! That hurts just picturing it. Sorry man....the idea of moving tanks always freaks me out.
