Anybody got any solutions for plug space?

I'm prepping a new tank build and I'm going to need to expand my access to outlets. I usually use surge protectors, is it reasonable to get two big ones and attach them to my stand?? Anybody got any good DIY work arounds or solutions to the plug crisis??? Thanks. I don't use a controller BTW currently.

. This is the best one out there also I wouldn’t recommend putting more and 5 things on one outlet is you have more things I would find another outlet run a exstention cord and cover the wire up using these

I use GFI power bars all the time. Just do your calculations I really doubt you are going to come anywhere close to tripping a 15 amp breaker

I don’t know about him but I have several times before lol I’ve also don’t it to a 20 amp as well!!!

i like rack mountable dj power outlets , that way each has a switch and its easy to turn them on and off .
i also like that they are not loose and can be screwed into the cabinet easily and will stay in place when pulling on cords

For me .. reef-pi/ Robo tank Rob has 2 serial controlled power outlets that can give you up to 16... Did I say that you can control them

TrippLite makes quality stuff. Those dj power strips don’t last long from my experience.

i agree tripplite makes nice gear, but my 2 dj power strips i had them in high school 30 +years ago, they both still work.

I'll easily choose a 30 year old power strip over one made today. They don't make them like they use to.

Boy ain't that the truth. This tank is going to go in my office and I have a raceway along the wall with plugs about every 2.5 feet, the problem is the consolidation and eventual mess of wires of said plug space. I need to compress it down and not make it an electrical nightmare.

I have a decent anker surge protector on my current tank and I've had sparks/plugs fry on it. I'm trying to avoid going the cheaper route and have problems.

This is not a good example of wire management or organization/cleanliness, I know it's a mess, but as you can see, on this setup I have plenty of plugs using that Trip-lite PDU mounted up high.

For items that I wanted to turn on or off as a group like pumps, I used a smaller power strip with a switch like a little breakout box.

Haha i know the feeling. I had to run a third 20 amp circuit to my fish room to to avoid tripping breakers....of course that is more than one tank.

if you have a big system its better to avoid all power strips for the feww high power draw items and just run 230 volts, pumps, heaters, chillers should be hardwired and will all be more efficient than 110v versions.

Why not use a couple smart surge strips like the Kasa, tp-link, or APC units, or similar. you can control them via voice command if you use Alexa or Google, or via a phone app, or using the buttons on the strips. you can even use them to program scenes/routines, to automate your tank a bit.
