Anybody have feedback on PO4X4

Just started with some yesterday on one tank ...... and will be trying some out on another beginning today. First tank is 300 gallon - cycled but no real bioload at all yet - rock, cuc, chromis. Phosphate at .17 yesterday when I added reactor and 1 cup Po4x4. This tank obviously won't tell me much about how well it maintains levels but will be a great test to see how rapidly it will bring levels down. Will also be trying it out on my 90 gallon today ..... currently using BRS HC and was PhosAr prior to that. Will give a good idea how it compares.

I just swapped out my Rowaphos for PO4x4 a couple weeks ago and thus far, phosphates are still undetectable. So far so good, but I don't have any long term experience yet.

Well, I just ran a po4 test on the 300 gallon ..... tank water tested at .10 and water out of reactor also tested at .10. I had put in one cup yesterday -has been less than 24 hours. That really doesn't match their claims of the 3ppm it will remove in 8000L of water ..... so I was surprised to see these results. It is tumbling rather fast in the reactor (fluidizes way easier) so I'm going to put a smaller pump and/or find a valve to slow it down first ..... and retest. If slowing it down doesn't help then I'll assume it's exhausted that quickly and add more ....
What are you guys using to test PO4? If your not using a colorimeter your not getting an accurate reading of PO4 in your system. Hanna makes a pretty inexpensive one.

Just put 250 ML in BRS reactor yesterday afternoon. Flow is dialed down to where it is fluidized but not blasting around.
I have a 180 SPS heavily stocked with lots of fish (14 Anthias, 4 tangs, 5 wrasses, 3 chromis, 2 clowns, and about 4 others (scooter blenny, mandarin goby, asessor).
My levels were around .03 with Hannah checker, running ROA, but I suspect my some of my live rock is leaching it out, and the ROA is releasing some Iron into the system. Interested to see if the stuff works. My corner flows get a nice thick growth in the teeth about every 10 days or so, and I have pretty good clean up crew, but a few rocks and the teeth on the overflows, and the walls of the over flows have a greenish/purple growth that the tangs munch on.
I will test again tomorrow before I do my bi-monthly water change.

Just checked with Hanna Checker this morning...after adding 250 on Thursday, reading is zero...my previous reading was .03. I will double check later today as i just fed a ton and want to see the results post feeding.

Ive been using it for about a month now, it has worked great. My only complaint is that the media is super tiny, I have to be careful with my flow in the reactor or it will end up blasting right through the sponges in my reactor and end up in the tank.

Finally got it going. Dropped about 3/4 cup in the reactor for about 120G total water volume. My egg checker has always read zero but I know it's time to change out the gfo when I start to see a little bit of algae growing. Man this stuff is tiny! Light tumble like normal gfo?

Just thought I'd post a quick update on my results with the po4x4 so far:
Have it added to all 3 tanks now ..... po4 reading on the 300 has not dropped below .06. Will be replacing media with another 500 ml.
On a 90 gallon that was tested at .01 on 10/25 ..... I added 6 tbls on 10/30 and today's reading was at .03.
On my 180 mixed reef I added 1 1/4 cups on 10/31. PO4 reading was at .03. Today I checked and the PO4 tested 0.

After using is for a bit, I think the claims about it's strength are quite exaggerated. I ended up filling my reactor more than I do with Rowaphos to achieve the same results, which prevented any cost savings over the "black gold."

If you decide to try it out, let us know how it works out for you. It is certainly an effective tool for removing PO4, just not as revolutionary as the claims IMO.
