anyone elses LFS missing the "L" -Quick Poll-

I drive about 40 minutes to my preferred fish store. But hey Spendley, there's a decent fish store in Hancock. I'm pretty good friends with the owners son and they will order anything that you want. Prices are less than half of Ricks but doesn't have as good of a selection. But always has hermits and snails for 75 cents each! Can't beat it.

There are a few really good places in MD...though I guess most I know of are smaller operations...ERC for corals and Saltwaterworx for fish/snails...though far for me, they normally come to our local metro DC marine club meetings...

My closest LFS is 5 minutes away, but I have not purchased anything from them. I have been in and the selection and prices are pretty lackluster. I purchase pretty much everything online or from my local club.

My closest store of any kind is 45 minutes away. And it's not that great. Any decent one is over an hour and the livestock isn't really anything to write home about.

I don't buy livestock from any of the LFS around here anymore. Will order livestock online, most supplies also. I do buy from local reefers though. There is a new store rumored to be opening soon. I'll be giving them a try, but not expecting anything different.

What store you going to I am in md to and man I have to go to lancaster for anything good lol

Even our grocery store is 10 minutes away. 30 minutes to a decent reef store is about average for me. But I live way out in the burbs.

I usually drive 30 to 40 minutes to get to some of the stores I like. Though I notice that the hobby tends to attract some pretty sheisty business practices and pushy sales people. I've stopped going to a local coral store due to the really bad attitudes I would get there when I would shop there.

Lots of good local fish stores here in Vegas. I try and support them as much as I can, they are mostly mom and pop shops and I like to support small business. Plus, if there is an issue, I like to be able to walk in to the store and deal with actual live people instead of answering machines or endless e-mails......

My drive is 1.5hrs. My local store is a joke. Example: Peppermint shrimp -$19.99, $7.99 at the other store. Additionally frogspawn coral (small) - $89.99 and $39.99 at the further store.

Also 1 out of the 9 members at my local store are complete dodo's. At the one further away they have 3 highly skilled employees that know how to resolve any situation I have ever had.

If I'm wanting to go and look, then I've got to drive at least an hour one way, and then there are four stores in a 30 minute radius from there. If I wanted to hit all of them, it is a 3 hour round trip just drive time.

Closest to me is Petco, then the Local fish kill. to go to an actual fish store, I am looking at a 3-5 hour drive.
