Anyone hardly ever experienced the ocean?

I'm in a similar boat, I'm in a more landlocked area of my home state GA, so beach visits only come every year or so. We don't go to the crappy GA beaches, no, we go down (6-8hr drive) to St augustine FL, one of the prettiest oceans I've seen. The sand is powdery and the water is a looming grey blue, and another plus is nobody goes in the fall! I would recommend when you go to any beach that you go in the early fall, barely any people at all.
I'm also in a similar boat regarding swimming, when I was little I could tread and swim laps and dive, but I swim so infrequently that a recent trip to a water park nearly proved fatal to me and one of my brothers In that moment I realized I had to learn... But I haven't yet I also plan to get a diving license as well, so I really need to step on it ;Dead

Thank you for the tips. You make me even more excited to learn swimming and get a diving license. Definitely good goals to achieve.

I feel like the only person in the hobby who never experienced the sea. I grew up in a landlocked town in Asia and moved to the US (Arizona) when I was 21. Can't remember the last time I saw the beach, probably when I was a kiddo. The more I'm into the hobby the more I want to experience the ocean. I always dream about being on a boat and exploring the ocean floor. I love diving but man I gotta learn how to swim first (big LOL). When I get my college degree and save up enough I'll try to achieve what I dream of.

I guess I take for granted growing up as a kid and now, as I always lived 3 miles from the beach here in Huntington beach, from reading your post. Your in Arizona so a little 4 to 6 hour road trip and the Pacific Ocean is something you can do in a day. If you really want to go to the beach jump in your car either solo or with a wife or friend when you get a day off and you will be right there, just gotta do it.
