Anyone here use this refugium light?

I have the Roleadro UFO light, 138w equivalent, it was $40 omega Amazon and it is amazing.

One question I always had was we focus so much on lighting, myself included. Shouldn't the macros grow because they are pulling out nutrients rather than growing from a powerful light? I'm using a AI Prime set to 6500k.

They tak nutrients and light to grow. When you remove light they stop or remove nutrients they stop

Higher light they use more nutrients and grow faster

I just ordered from ebay a 150W UFO LED Grow Light IR UV Full Spectrum Hydroponic Hydro Plant Growing Lamp for under $30. 3 of my friends have it and in less than 2 months it works great. Works just as good as a Kessil H380 and at a much lower price point.

I use a Mars Hydra 24watt Grow light Bulb - $14.99. works great !

How much chaeto are you emovi g each time?
I don't measure but about 1/2 the fuge. It probably fills back up in 3 days but I compact it and flip it for a few more before trimming. I didn't realize it at the time but my first statement was misleading without that info, I don't remove 90% or anything like that. It grows chaeto about 2x faster than my par38 and since the fixture's spread easily covers my whole fuge, I could lower it down more and likely get faster growth, but I don't need it. This keeps my nutrients right where I want them on my 90g DT/40g sump. Fuge section is about 10g.

The way I understand it the more light it gets the faster it can photosynthesis and use more nuetrients in the process.
Too an extent, there will eventually be a photoinhibition point, but it's much higher than a tradition cfl or par38 provides ime. You can get similar par numbers from a par38 and a reflector, but not evenly spread across a larger area. That and spectrum is why the ufos are better imo. A cfl or par38 may be enough for some people, but it wasn't in my case and switching to this light did the trick. We all have different tanks/feeding schedules/water chemistry/flow/photoperiods etc., so what works for one person certainly isn't guaranteed to work for another.

We usually have powerful lights on our display tanks. Having a powerful light in the refugium helps the chaeto growth outcompete nuisance algae in the display tank, for example, for those nutrients. With a weak refugium light, the macroalgae cannot beat the nuisance algae for growth.

I've been using this one works great half the price and more powerful
