Anyone install a Clarisea SK-5000 in a Trigger emerald 34 sump?

I am hoping I can fit a Clarisea Sk-5000 in a Trigger emerald 34 sump and still have room to fit my skimmer in the skimmer chamber without hacking up my sump too much. Anyone ever done this??

I just asked my LFS to order me a SK-5000 so we'll see if I can make it fit!

You didn't put it in the sock area. You put it beside the skimmer. How did you get the return line that feeds the sock to the clairsea?

My input to my sump is opposite yours. So move my skimmer to the left and put the clairsea in the right. Bypass the sock area in the back, run hoses into the clairsea? Humm, I didn't think it would fit.

Correct. You will have to redirect the plumbing to the Clarisea. In my pic, you can see where I disconnected incoming water (behind the skimmer). I built a new fitting after the gate valve to go to the Clarisea. My emergency overflow still goes into the sock area of the sump.

What skimmer are you running next to the clarisea? I have the same sump but am running a octo 150 int and don’t think it would fit.

It is a Bubble Magus 5.

I should also say that since installing the Clarisea, my phos and nitrates are low enough that I have stopped using the refugium so that section could be used for more stuff!

Thanks for the reply, that’s what I was hoping to hear. I’ve been slowly buying equipment for this new build I’ll be starting soon and am having second thoughts about using the filter socks. I bought the trigger 34 second hand but brand new in box so I can’t return. Love the idea of the Refugium for coepods etc but nutrient export is more important to me as I have a heavy feeding hand‍ And I know I won’t change socks as often as I should. Do you know offhand the footprint on your bubble magus?

That’s a small footprint. My regal 150int has the pump outside the skimmer body but looking at your sump pic from previous post it almost might slide underneath the clarisea. If not I could always use the refugium section like u mentioned. Or get the dremel out and start hacking the filter sock section out.

Nice install! I'm looking at doing exactly this. Could you share more about what you mean with "basically a drop in"? And could you share what types of plumbing you used to go from your main overflow to the input?

Last question is, what did you do with the plumbing that would go into the second filter sock input plumbing? I have 3 overflows, so just trying to figure out what to do.

Looks awesome! I'm hoping to do this next week.

From the Clarisea - I used the 90 elbow (included) and cemented it to some flexible PVC and then another 90 at the top, a short run of rigid PVC then to a union. The union was already there from my original run to the socks.
I did not modify the sump at all other than take the socks out. My emergency overflow still goes into the sump unfiltered and is unchanged from the original configuration.

Thanks a lot, I'm going to try and work on this next weekend. How has it performed? Does it help keep phosphates and nitrates in check, better than socks, in your opinion?

I will never go back to socks. Nitrates and Phos are no longer a concern as long as I keep up with monthly water changes. Maint free for 2 months when I change out the roll.

I can't wait to do this lol. I never thought I could fit a roller mat into the 34, and then your post came up and it feels like a game changer haha.
