I sure hope it is a great fixture cause I'm about to pull the trigger on a used 48" t5 hybrid. Used for 1 year for $1300. Is that a good deal?

I noticed I had put a couple of the bulbs in on the wrong side so i took the shield off and flipped them. Man i gotta say they dont give you much room! Seems so much easier changing bulbs on ny sun power. But all my acros seem to be adjusted to the lighting and i gotta say I absolutely love this fixture!

I have the 48" Hybrid. I love the light, has lots of power and it's beautiful! However the fixture is not perfect.

Most people I've talked to actually turn off the LEDs while their T5's are in use, with the LEDs being in the center of the fixture, it tends to create hot-spots that throw down too much PAR.

Another issue I have is that after a power outage it won't keep time, it resets to 00:00. Hard to believe a $2k fixture has this problem. The acrylic shield has a poor fit, when I slide it into the bracket, one side will pop out and it becomes hopelessly lodged in place. Therefore sliding in the shield after swapping out bulbs because a delicate act to ensure it fits properly.

The flaws are relatively minor, performance wise it is a beast, but honestly I think I would be happier with an ATI Powermodule with Reefbrites on the sides. Wouldn't be as pretty, that's for sure, but I think it would be more functional.

I would definitely recommend the fixtures to others but did want to mention these issue's I've found. The fixture I have was brand new in a recent shipment from Germany.

Im switching from 2 hydra 26. How did you handle the transition. Did you start the lights off low then increase? How long till you were at full power?

Not sure about his but my transition was almlst flawless but i did run a t5/led combo before the switch. Everything is taking off under the new light!

I ran a similar combo before switching, so acclimation wasn't an issue. My old fixture had seven bulbs and two Reefbrite XHO LED strips.

On the new fixture I run all eight of my T5's a fully power for 7-8 hours. My LED's don't go higher than 25% and I only run the Royal Blues (most of the day they're less than 15%). I tried a short spike of higher LED intensity (50% for one hour) and my SPS were not happy.

It's just too much light that is too concentrated with the LED pucks in the center of the fixture. My corals just haven't responded well to having the LEDs higher than 30%, others have reported the same issue.

Even Moser, who has a 1000g reef running with these fixtures doesn't run the LEDs higher than 50%. My aquarium isn't anywhere nearly as deep as his so I certainly can't run anywhere near that.

If anyone run's their LEDs and T5 at full power please discuss and provide details on your reef.

How high up are yours? Im running my t5 for 8 hours and leds at 20% and then run my leds up to 60% as last t channel is dimmi g and then back down (mostly for viewing pleasure during evening). Everything has been kicking butt but i will say my fixture is 15" above water because my tank is only 18" deep.

Yes what was stated above was part of what i read. Many folks said they was happier with a powermodule and reefbrites. Im lrobably only going to run the leds 30%-50%. I also read that supposedly the newer models had fixed the issues of powering off randomly. Also my clusters are the single cluster. I believe these are the newer one? And the clusters with 2 rows are the old... Also im not trying to bash the light in any way, so far I love it!

Correct you have the new ones. I'm with you, love the fixture but if I were to redesign I would do it a bit differently. I have no functionality issues except that the splash shield is difficult to get on and off and my light still won't keep time if it loses power (even though I updated the firmware).

I think mine is maybe 8" above a 24" tank. Even when I ran LED's at only 50% for only 1 hour I had issues. Maybe it was another factor but it seemed to be the lighting. I may experiment again later but right now my colors are solid, but I'm kind of wasting the functionality and power of the LEDs.

I wish I could get away with running all the LEDs at full power. With all spectrum's at 100% power and with all the T5's on, my aquarium just looks amazing, lots of shimmer, great color rendering, natural looking, super bright...but also laser-beams of death that fry your corals.

Usually blues wont cook coral as easily with leds. Or at least thats been my experience. I have a 6 bulb sun power and 1 50/50 reefbrite on my other tank. I get better colors on that tank but less growth.
