Hi Everyone,

Wondering if any fellow reefers also run freshwater aquariums? I'm going to use a cube I have to set-up a fresh that I plan to have in between my frag tank and my Waterbox AIO 30.2. Seeing i have rodi for my reef plan on using that. Does anyone add to the rodi to make it better for freshwater?

Thanks

I learned very quickly that rodi will kill freshwater fish. Nowadays I just use half declorinated tap water, half ro water (no di filter)

I use RO in my freshwater without any issues, never tried DI. Read that you shouldn't for one reason or another so never bothered with it. If you don't have live plants you can use freshwater salt to put some of the minerals back into the water.

I have a 20 Gal tall next to my 75 Gal saltwater. I have a Black Knife Ghost Fish and a red tailed shark. The Ghost fish is gonna outgrow the tank soon :-|

currently use RO drinking water, but plan to use RODI when I make more.

Seachem makes some stuff you add to RODI to add all the stuff you need. It's easier to just mix in some RO with tap to get the TDS you want. If your KH is to low you can add baking soda to bring it up.

Just got the tank in place, and my level is showing slightly off, I used a workout/anti fatigue mat from Harbor freight under it, hopefull it'll self level once I add water.

I wouldn't settle for slightly off level. Get some shims under there!

my fresh is straight out of the well...as is its topoff water...but i probably should use the rodi for topoff even though i havent for 10 yrs

I know ppl who have shrimp tanks and they do ro then add ph to buffer it . I have discus and I do tap but let it sit and heat and Put air stone in for 24 hours then as I do water change I add seachem prime to tank . When they were baby’s I did 50g daily on the tank

I do fresh! Definitely don't use the pure RODI as others have said, freshwater does need some TDS and GH/KH. I use Salty Shrimp buffer with RO for my shrimp, and dechlorinated tap for my fish. Any thoughts what you want to keep?

I the shims will make it off on the other side, the measure is still within the center lines, and the need to raise on one side is less than the skinny part of the shim.
I have a 90g discus tank
I have a 240 sitting here thinking I should run it as a freshwater planted discus tank, and I have this place right around the corner.

Seeing this is a bio cube it's going to small unique fish, sand bottom and live plants.

i used to have have freshwater but then i fully switched to saltwater and took all my freshwater tanks down eventually overtime

I have a 75 gallon planted fresh water tank. I enjoy the plants as much as the fish. Plus I don't think I could go without a plecco.

Ultimately along two walls I want basically in this order, a dart frog vivarium, freshwater tank, brackish tank/ or shoreline specialty, reef tank, shark tank.
