Anything other than ich or velvet?

I don't think it's ich because I've done TTM. I don't think it's velvet because I'm pretty sure she'd be dead by now (I got her two weeks ago). However, there appears to be at least one raised white speck on the black stripe, and possibly more lower on the side, but it's really hard to tell. I fresh water dipped her when I first brought her home and have done two rounds of prazi a week apart. I notice the fins look damaged some, but the other fish in qt act like she doesn't exist. Ammonia is zero. Any ideas?

Maybe these better show the spot? I'm pretty sure I saw one on the tail. The other tangs in qt don't seem to have this.

Could be bacteria infection or stress spots.

This fish has displayed stress spots on and off the entire time I've had it. But these appear raised.

It could still be velvet. While it mostly does kill quickly, it can creep up on you. I need better pictures to be able to tell much more, but don't rule out velvet based only on the timeline.

It does appear that he's got a bit of an infection on the fins, which is normal with velvet. I would suggest putting her through copper just to be safe, but it would be best if we got a better side-view picture of him first.

That's alright. I can't really see any spots in that picture. I would treat with copper to be on the safe side here. Can you see if he has a dusty or dirty appearance? Is he breathing heavy? Eating well?

Last try at getting it! Anyway, I did pull her out of the water for a few seconds ( LFS guy did the same when I questioned about disease) and looked to see any raised spots. It's mainly the one, and possibly one on the tail ( these fish won't stay still!!) Now she's discolored from me messing with her, so she has white spots all over. However, she is eating fine and doesn't hide during the day.

Any possible way the TTM protocol was compromised? Something not drying out all the way (the full three days), a wet hand going from another tank to the TTM tank? Even using a spoon or (any tool) to feed another tank first, then using it to feed the fish in the TTM tank. Something as simple as a wet hand.

I've thought about that, but the likelihood is really small. I let the equipment bake in FL sun ( Really intense!), Had the bucket in the laundry room, and never serviced the bucket while maintaining the other tanks ( that have been fallow and now fish are in it). That said, I'm not perfect by any means and maybe I screwed up somewhere. My one tragic experience with velvet the spots seemed smaller and way more of them, but one experience is not much to claim any authority. Would a fresh water dip give any clue? Maybe if it falls off?

Probably not in this situation. I stand by my recommendation of copper treatment. It would cover both ick and velvet so either way it's getting treated.

Sorry hun. Look for CopperSafe and get the Api copper test kit with it.
