We had a power outage today, and since, my apex will not reconnect to fusion. I have tried resetting my router and apex multiple times to no avail! I have read a few posts on the fusion forum, but not to familiar with IP addresses etc.. we have had power outages before, and the apex went right back into normal function. Has any one else had this issue before or knows how to fix?? Thanks for the help!

#reefsquad for Apex / Router savvy members!

Do you have a display unit? Whenever my power goes out have to click on the apex fusion (usually says "apex fusion: ok") a few times and it reconnects

I do not have a display. I generally have my lap top near, or my phone to use remotely. When I look at my Network though in apex, its seems to be seeing the router and is showing 87% network strength, but will not connect.

common issue hence the need to have the main unit supplied via aux p/s plugged into UPS.

is that a classic or the new model?

It is the newer 2016. From what I was able to find so far, the newer units should not have this issue although some do. A lot of the fixes I see require me to change IP addresses etc. for both the apex and the router and I have no idea how to do that!

I read quite the opposite - it's the classic that is labeled as rock-solid.

Problem is all the newest features that Neptune System offers arent available for classic.

Either way an aux P/S powered via battery backup seems to resolve a lot of power hiccup related issues.

How are you accessing the Network page? Through Apex Local?

I access fusion through apexfusion/login (which obviously brings me to my dash board), Can my network page be located there? I have only had the apex running for a few months now so am still learning the ins and outs...

Sorry... I can access my network page through my dash, and it is showing 78% strength from my router, but not connecting. There is a "configuration" section where I can disable my DHCP and manually type in an IP, but I have no idea what I am doing!

turn off all equipment, start up your router and switches - restart apex. After its online bring up the rest, give it few minutes for fusion to reconnect.

reach out to Neptune if you are unsure.

You said you were looking at Network in Apex, and seeing the WiFi signal strength.
If you are doing that in Apex Fusion, it should mean that you are connected.
Can you be more specific about what you mean when you say that it's not connecting?
If you can post a pic of your Network page, that would also be helpful; both the Summary tab and Configuration (Type WiFi) tab.

Ok I got it!! I think what I was seeing on the apex dash, for signal strength was just a "ghost" of what it actually was before I lost connection. Neptune Tech responded quite quickly, and the fix was....

Make sure you have everything connected properly like this image:
mail

  1. Now get a paper clip and hold down the pinhole reset button on the APEX Base unit for 5-10 Seconds or if the status light turns Blue. (whichever comes first)
  2. The system will reboot and the status will flash and end on the color Blue.
  3. Now get your tablet or smart phone and find the WIFI BROADCASTING SIGNAL from your APEX. It will read 'APEXSETUP_###'
  4. Click on it. Wait for it to connect. || YOU MUST GET A CHECKMARK on a iOS ||
  5. Once it's connected open the WEB BROWSER and type in 'apex.local' or '172.16.0.1'
  6. It should load the local wifi signal page.
  7. Log in and select a WIFI signal that is YOURS.
  8. mail

  9. Type in your PASSWORD to YOUR WIFI.
  10. Wait for the Apex to have the status light change to Orange.
  11. Now put the computer or tablet back to your home network
  12. Open up a new browser window and type in http://apex.local/

The key to this, was to hold down the Apex Reset, until the status light turned blue, and STAYED blue. Then follow the following steps. Prior, I was quickly pressing the reset button, the apex status would blink several colors, then go back to orange. This was not resetting the WIFI signals

There is a bigger problem at hand, why didnt apex reconnect after a power outage?

Was the apex at least running all the equipment per your programming?

Most likely the power outage changed his local internal IP address this time and caused conflict.

The Local Apex Server continued to run his gear even though not connected to Fusion.

That's what I thought and this is why i said to switch everything off and bring up just router/switch and apex - then the rest.

That said - power outages dont change IP addresses, they may release them. Either way the device would be assigned a brand new one by DHCP, one that is not assigned to anything else.

Things get hairy when people set up devices with static IPs in the same range as your DHCP serves them - have seen that many times.

Yes I agree. I have had two other outages prior to today, and the Apex has reset and reconnected on its own. It did not reconnect today, obviously, but it did continue to run all equipment as it was programmed. I am not super savvy when it comes to computers or networking, so I have no idea why it figured itself out the first two times and not this time. I would like to see a way/setting, to prevent this from happening again as I travel and am not always able manually reset the Apex.

Do you know of a way/setting that can prevent this from happening again? I have seen many posts on changing IP address, but I have no idea where to even begin.
