I replaced one of my heaters just to be safe. I bought the heater from BRS and it is the kind that needs a regulator. I plugged it into the port that housed the old heater. About three hours later the lights on my tank went out. In checking out the problem I found the temp at 84. Obviously the Apex had not regulated the temperature as it had on the old heater. Any suggestions where to go from here to fix this problem? Thank you.

how large is the heater? Sounds like you are overloading the energy bar, and tripped the fuse?

K, to get an idea of what you have, did you buy the brs heaters and the temp controller? Are you using the apex as primary control and the temp controller as the secondary? Did the lights go off on tank high temp alarm?

I am using the Apex as the primary temp controller. Yes the lights went off as the high temp alarm.

This is my program for both of my heaters.

DUMB QUESTION:

Are you sure you plugged the new heater into the same port used on the old heater? I've done made that mistake before, plugged into the port to the right not paying attention, outlet was set to on with no other programing on it. (it was used before as a power for a web camera)

It doesn’t, just a delay, keeps from short cycling the relays on the EB’s.

But the wording is the same on everything else?
You are dealing with an old lady so please be patient. What wording are you asking about? I didn't change the coding because I don't know what I am doing. Is there something I should change?

I’m not too sure on the defer coding..this is how my main one is set up with some defer statements (the temps are set this way because I have the other controller hooked up so ignore iy temps)
Fallback OFF
If Tmp < 79.5 Then ON
If Tmp > 80.0 Then OFF
If Output RetPump_L-3 = OFF Then OFF
Defer 005:00 Then ON
If Output Maintenance = ON Then OFF
Defer 005:00 Then ON
If its not the defer statements I would say you have a bad outlet.

Sorry. ...lol...im an old lady too. Thought that was your programming that was posted earlier.

See if you can click on the advanced tab in the outlet and copy the coding - if it will let you.

No Worries glad to help.

I personally don't run defers within the TEMP controls. I actually went back to the manual to read. Your programing seems correct according to what I read.
