Are Freebie's common?

I have been loading up on a lot of high end frags, & seem to always get a freebie or 2 from vendors with my shipment.

I got one today 3 frags close to $1000, no freebie.

I'm curious if the vendors giving me freebie's are going above & beyond others, or the vendor who sent nothing with the 3 frag $1000 sale is tighter than most...???

it depends on the vendor and what they have in stock. Some like to throw freebies when they can. others are cheap.

Depends on the vendor. Usually the more you spend you'll get some freebies at times. Unless you bought frags already at a discounted price or a frag pack. I know ASD and Reefers Direct will usually hook up freebies when you spend a decent amount. If you just spend just enough with most vendors to get the free shipping you most likely wont see any freebies since they're picking up the shipping cost.

Most likely that is it. I know a lot of the top vendors don't really give out freebies but if you ask most times when spending a nice chunk of change they'll through something in. Extra frag or two, maybe a shirt or some product.

It really depends on who you buy from.
I usually hook up freebies if someone is paying to have just one coral shipped, it seems like the right thing to do

"Nothing is truly free", IMHO you are paying for those "freebies" one way or another. Hopefully you were feeling like you got a good deal on the original order. I am choosy about what I put in my tank anyway so I would rather pick it out than have to figure out where to put that free monti frag. I have noticed that most of the bigger vendors just give you what you've paid for and many of the smaller ones will throw something in. I've never used Aqua SD though (and I am not putting him in the small category).

I used to give out freebies with every order. Then, believe it or not, I had a string of complaints by people who didn't want the freebies. The most common complaints being that they already had that one, or that they didn't have room for that frag, or in some cases, they just don't want that coral. So now, I do give out a freebie with some shipments, generally based upon the size of the order. Not because I'm cheap, but if someone is ordering 6+ frags, they probably have room for one more. It's like a need a checkbox or something for orders that says "Freebie?" Yes - No

ASD is pretty good about giving freebies similar to what you order. If you order Arcos the freebies will be acros. If you order acans you get acans for your freebies. If you have a mix of corals they usually try to mix up the freebies a bit from what I have noticed. ASD's volume is insane so I'm sure this is why Will throws the freebies peoples way. To make room for new corals they get in along with keep buyers coming back.

@BoomCorals - people really complained about freebies? I guess if they don't have room or its a double of what they already have.. they can trade it with another reefer or sell it off. Still a win IMO! THanks for sharing the vendor's POV for us.

I still think if someone pays to have one coral shipped, it should have a buddy with it in the package...
So it doesn’t get lonely.

You give me $1000 for 3 frags and the freebie is the tank they were in and I will include a sorry letter about them not being so cool in 2 years and worth $80

Communication is the key. I always ask for freebies to off set the shipping cost and ask how many freebies when the payment is high, I always ask for a list to choose from so I will not get the same ones I already have, or certain color to match the space I'm going to place the acros. I don't like surprises. Sellers are often more happy to give out freebies for a change to receive more orders from you. It's all about marketing and business relationship.
