Are Freebie's common?

We ordered 3000+$ from asd and had no freebies... He made it right like always though :). Only place I order from now.

I have stopped ordering from other vendors because they send no freebies and no extra polyps. Freebies are what keeps people coming back.

People like me who save up for a long time to make big orders of nice stuff expect freebies. It's so hard to afford the expensive stuff and sending no freebies just makes it that much more painful to spend the money. Just because your spending thousands doesn't mean you can afford it. And doesn't mean you don't want freebies for the love of God! :)

This thread makes me think that instead of only freebies now and then, I should just go back to freebies for everyone again. :)

I would never expect a free coral, no matter how much I spent. And although I would never complain, I don't necessarily always want a free frag either. If a seller is in a generous mood because I've spent way too much, great, please send me something impressive, not something that makes me feel like you're just cleaning out your excess stock.

Perhaps that sounds ungrateful?

Haha yea it kind of sounds ungrateful, but I know how you feel and what you mean. The only reason I expect freebies is because I shopped around through a long list of bad vendors and hobbiests until I found one who treated me right and knew what I wanted. I never asked for freebies and always got them. That's one reason I look towards ordering from them and chose them to order from.
I would say going around buying a frag or two and asking for a freebie could be somewhat rude if you ask me though.

I do agree. If you buy two $40 frags and want a freebie, that’s maybe asking a bit much. Especially for someone like me who after shipping and coral costs is barely making anything on that order. I don’t mind giving freebies, but I also want to keep my prices low, so it will likely only be above a certain dollar amount.

Okay what about a freebie for a first time customer and a freebie code or coupon after a certain dollar amount

Honestly I've never even known getting freebies was a thing - most likely because I've never had a high dollar order. So I guess I've never been 'taught' to expect them. But really if I order 3-4 frags it's a decision making process that includes a) what I'm comfortable spending b) what I think will survive c) what visual impact I'm looking for and d) what I think I can find a place for.
If some random freebie were thrown in I'd be very grateful and happy about it, but it might not fit in to b), c), and d) above.

I have only ordered twice online, both well known vendors, both got a freebie and both of them are beautiful pieces that I am very happy to have. I guess if I didn’t want the coral I would give to someone locally who would appreciate it

I never get freebie corals. I've recieved food, supplements, t-shirts, things like that. Only maybe once or twice a freebie coral. I'm always looking for deals, sometimes I feel sorry for the vendors on my orders. Lol. Recently got a gigantic box of corals from a live sale/auction from a big vendor. I got a t-shirt and some polyp lab. The box weighed 22lbs and I got some nice pieces more than 50% off. A couple around 80% off. Now, if I went on their website "regular prices" and ordered a bunch I would feel better if I got a nice little freebie on top!

I speak to my vendor threw text and both orders I got a freebie that was in the same catagory lps (blastomussa) and both times I was super pumped! The last shipment did come in cold and when he sent me my money back in the form of coral I didn’t receive a freebie and that made total sense to me...but still I was hoping for another little blasto hahah not greedy just love surprises and I’m starting a new tank so all the help I can get is appreciated. when he gave me the first freebie I became a loyal customer because he already had given me great variety and pricing and the freebie just felt like above and beyond. those are the business I look for to give my money too.

FWIW the first order was a $80 dollar trachy and $40 shipping
Second was $250 for a few Aussies free shipping
3rd i used store credit of $125 and $30 of my own towards $45 shipping

I used to give out freebies with every order. Then, believe it or not, I had a string of complaints by people who didn't want the freebies. The most common complaints being that they already had that one, or that they didn't have room for that frag, or in some cases, they just don't want that coral. So now, I do give out a freebie with some shipments, generally based upon the size of the order. Not because I'm cheap, but if someone is ordering 6+ frags, they probably have room for one more. It's like a need a checkbox or something for orders that says "Freebie?" Yes - No

:D

Just want throw in, @BoomCorals falls on the “generous” vendor list IME. Freebies here and there, always giving back to the community when possible, etc. Real class act. :)
