Are kessil lights Any good ?

Not sure I understand. You said you used a Kessil a360x for 5 years now. And now asking if they are at the top of their game.

Question back to you. Did you enjoy the light? Did it work for you? You should know the answer as you had one for 5 years...

Well if you didn’t read all my post ....which I’m guessing you didn’t I never could grow aneonme or spa except montis so I’m wondering if a better light is out there smart a $. $

I think if you want SPS , you better look at getting Another light. You can push SPS but will require more lights

The 360x have better cooling. My favorite brand light personally. Very flexible. The widest, best spectrum. Tons of shimmer. Different lens let u mount at different heights. Ease of color and intensity adjustment...

I bought 5 of the 360X about 2 years ago. I really like the light, the size, the spread, and the fact that they shimmer like a MH, What I don't like is the fact that 2 have already stopped working and at $450 ea. I would think they should last longer.

My one lasted years and I never even cleaned the dust out I didn’t notice it even but it way to late for that

It’s just the fan that stopped working I tried taking it apart but no luck ....but in the past I could never grow sps or aneonme and my tank was almost. 6 years old so I wonder if the kessil light had anything to do with it

I grow sps and bubble tip anemone very well with the smaller a160we’s on a 40 breeder. I think size of tank and amount of lights matters. But kessils are more than caps you fantastic coral and anemone growth.

The reason for my response is because the light was originally launched in 2018. So maybe you are looking at the X when you originally owned a A360WE LED. Having said that again one has to ask you, the hobbyist, if you liked the like or not. The a360x is an upgrade by about 20% from the previous model.

Kessil will grow all corals when properly sized for the hobbyist aquarium. Soft, LPS, SPS, and Mixed reefs. Do any search using your favorite search engine and plenty of results will return with great looking tanks. Lighting is only one factor in a successful system. Nutrient control, chemistry, and other things also play a vital role. You can have the best lighting (subjective so let us say "enough/proper PAR requirement for your display / bio type) and still have a cruddy looking system.

In any case better is subjective and different for everyone. Thus me asking if you liked the Kessil you owned. If so then the a360x and AP700/900 are good choices if they can meet your display needs. Remember it is about the total system so you may need more than 1, etc.

I had a kessil 160, a 360, and a ap700. I loved the shimmer of the a360. With the kessil ap700 hated that light because it didn't shimmer like 360 did. Leds have this chromatic unnatural look i hate too. My ap700 fan started making a loud buzzing sound. For 1200 canadian i paid omg i could have bought some way better stuff. Color control sucks compared to other lights like radion of aqua illumination. The app is poor too. Back then it shut off at 10% intensity which looked very bright still. Like a light switch. Am i happy with kessil? $2000 later? Not at all. I now use metal halide/ t5 fixture and im completely happy except electrical cost lol. But i haven't got a fan to replace. And if i replace anything i can replace them myself. Balast breaks? Change it. Bulb old? Change it. Thats it...

Your lack of skill the problem. It's all your fault. These lights can grow nything. I will offer help to you however. TURN Intensity way down.

Exactly. Most people don't understand how powerful these lights are. There are countless threads of low or no growth, because people have them turned up way to high. I turned my ocean revives down to 10% B. and 1% W. and now RBTA,s are growing like weeds

Kessil lights are amazing. They will grow any kind of coral. Usually if you can’t get the coral to grow, it’s not the lights fault.
