Are the "dollar per gallon" tanks lower quality?

My local PetCo had a small sign saying 10, 20H, 20L and 29 only.
Last year, the 40 and 55 were removed from the dollar per gallon but were still set a cheaper prices than normal.
I've used many of the dollar gallon tanks for years. Always check to make sure the silicone is done properly before buying. That should be how it is when your buying any tank really. Even the top notch money tanks leak.

Yes, just 10-29. I think the larger ones (55 is the biggest I've seen at Petco) are 50% off. If memory serves me well, the 55g is $130, so it's $65.

Bad seams. Lots of blow outs. I had a 93 cube that the panels were not straight And tons of bubbles in the seams, well known issue on 93 cubes. DD TANK blow outs several people here have had it happen. Just look at the reviews on their site for them.
Ok, I am listening. Considering Marineland is a professional company been around a long time and makes millions of tanks. What is a good tank maker ?
From what I'm gathering in this thread and elsewhere marineland tanks are typically perfectly fine. If you get a more expensive tank from a better brand it will most likely be less likely to break, however it is very unlikely that a marineland or other cheaper tank will leak. You could potentially buy a tank in the dollar per gallon sale and use it for a decade or buy a much more expensive tank and have it break in a month. It's just luck of the draw.

It takes a quick search, more than a small problem over the last few years. There are at least two people on this forum with deep dimension tanks that have had two faulty tanks in a row. Look at their website under deep dimensions and look at the feedback, there are a issue with them. The 93 cubes had a issue and one person got 3 in a row before he decided to give up. At the same time there were a dozen of us with the same issue. It seems to be their cube tanks and larger tanks. I read in a thread not sure it is true or internet rumor that they finally admitted they had issue with there manufacturer and have switched or are switching. most manufacturers have a defect here and there. I remember IM had a issue or Oceanic had used a bad batch of silicone. This has been going on for years and pretty many people are happy because of damage or what not and they would not admit to a issue.

Yes and no. I’ve got a $15.00 75watt heater I bought over 12 years ago and it’s still going strong. My $1 per gallon 29 gallon is coming up on 4 years old and still good. Then on the bad I had a Jebao DP-4 that lasted less then a week with one pump dead out of the box.
