Are you an "impulsive reefer?"

I am much more impulsive now then when I first started. Mostly because it's a 2 hour minimum drive to the nearest LFS, and I could have a list 10 items long and still not find a single thing I'm looking for. I still can't even find blue clove polyps! I would buy online, but had a horrible experience having some F/W shrimp shipped, so I prefer to drive the 2-3 hours one way to make sure they get home safely.

Do you not get wet when you put your arm in your tank?

Totally off the subject...but...I always thought UC had an awesome logo..totally fits our aesthetic and branding...But let's be honest, my fave logo in the industry (besides mine, of course, LOL) is Charity Corals! If you're a student of marketing and branding like I am, you'll appreciate the way it scores on every level...Ben meaning to tell you that, Jason! Plus, as we've discussed- I like your M.O.!

I am impulsive when it comes to coral. But I do my research 1st if it's something I am not sure about and not impulsive if I don't know anything about the coral or livestock. Cool color stag? BUY! Deepwater rarely seen acro? Research time.

I have a few more inches of rock that I am saving for some Unique Corals! When I order I am sure my space for 2 corals will turn into 5-10...HAHA!

I am only impulsive when I find a great sale...... to my Husband's annoyance this happens way to often as I travel (by car) long distances for work (across PA & to NJ, NY, MD, CT, MA, ect....) I live in NEPA & will find myself done with my job in a new city & ready to start the drive home.....& than I think to myself let me look online to see if there are any LFS nearby to check out before I head home, I'm only going to look (yeah right, lol). It is amazing the different corals that you find for really great prices where in another city they are super expensive or can't be found. Then I'm like well I can't pass up this size, color, ect. for this price, lol & next thing I know is the cooler in my trunk is full with goodies :) On the upside I have found some amazing places with awesome deals, beautiful corals & fish. Haha, now I have a list of the best ones & always make plans to visit them when in the area.... Lol, the last thing my Husband says to me when I leave for a job is "No buying anymore corals" ;)

Well I became less impulsive when UC dropped their shipping charges down to $19. Didn't feel like I had to keep adding this and that to get up to $250 for the free shipping. Now you can just order one or 2 nice corals at a time anytime you want and don't get killed with the shipping charges. Oh, wait. I guess that sounds impulsive doesn't it. ****, busted.

I am a "tank" impulse reefer. Early in my salt water days I got deterred from corals into predatory fish. The more camoflauged the better. Sure there were lions in the tank, but the bottom dwellers weremy fave. If I found one, it was bought. That led to needing more tanks to house those fish that couldn't live together. So I bought another tank. Then I found out about the petco dollar a gallon sale! I could buy multiple tanks at once!

Having satisfied my thirst for preds I have once again found and purchased a large tank with the goal of a beautiful reef. I am also sure that I will impulsively buy corals for it as well.

Yeah, I can be impulsice - but usually with when I buy what. I do enough research that I usually know what I'm looking at and what it will require from me. USUALLY. Sometimes I get something home and realize I haven't done enough. Like when I got my urchin. He moved the lawn like he was supposed to, but boy did he ever like to pick things up and move them (including live snails...)

Hey I'm an enabler. What can I say? LOL:yo:
Thanks!

Nothing like the 'Impulsive Buying' brought on by traveling with a large number of Reef Club Members out on a field trip. So both before and after meeting up with you Scott at the PNWMAS Meeting our PSAS Club deposited large numbers of funds in the surrounding Portland, Oregon area LFS's. Was like a feeding frenzy going around to the different shops trying to out compete each other for the hidden jewels or just Corals and or Fish we do not normally see in our own LFS's. I even broke down to buy a handful more Corals that will take some skill in finding a home within my over-stuffed Reef.

Cheers, Todd
