I buy for color, the name is a way of identification and lineage, which ensures this.
I have put up a number of threads asking if ALL corals need names. I don't think so. I think names should be reserved for the truly unique colorful pieces.
If you were a vendor and in the business to sell, what would you do?
I think it is a joke when some of these vendors "rename" stuff using a well known name like "- vendor name - Gobstoppers" or something like that, and the paly is just another paly I would rather not even have to deal with acclimating, unpacking, dipping, QTing, ect. Yes, more than one coral in a shipment has made it right to the trash can. (Before you say I should just give it away - if people would actually show up when they say they would when buying corals locally, I might actually do that)
Its all personal in this hobby. Some like names, some don't, some spend ridiculous amounts of money - me included

, some don't, some complain about everything - including prices, yet really wish they could have the piece that is overpriced, some dont.........some wish it would go back to the way it was, just like everything else in life, but it won't. Its here to stay and we have to deal with it.
The only way to change this is to put your money where your mouth is, and either pay for the nicer stuff, don't buy any named stuff, buy only orange caps, or live with it.
I have struggled on both sides of the table with this whole issue, and talked to a LOT of reefers about it. I've come to the conclusion, like all of my other hobbies, you have to pay to play...
If you want a Porsche, you pay for it, or you complain that it is just another volkswagen. If thats the case, buy a Ferrari. You don't like the price, then get a Vega.
Its all personal preference and the amount of money you want to allocate to your tank.
It is what it is....and isn't going anywhere. The only real way to ensure your getting NICE looking named stuff is talk to someone that isn't going to bs you about a piece since they are selling it.
