ASKING VERY KINDLY ADVICE PLEASE

Yea, let your alk n calcium naturally go down and test every 24 hrs. This will allow you to determine your daily alk/calcium consumption so that you can adjust your dosing pumps to meet (and not exceed) that demand, once you fire them back up again.

You don't need to be dosing mag all the time . I like to keep it up at 1400-1500 because that way if it drops a lot and I don't notice, I'm still ok. It also helps prevent nuisance algae, but I only dose once a month max.

So do u input into ur dosing pump once every 30 days

I don't use a dosing pump for mag, I just test every 2 weeks or so and adjust manually when necessary. You could set it up on a dosing pump, but you need to determine your consumption first. Rather than once a month you could split it up once a week or something. You never want to raise mag more than 50-100ppm per day.

I would put it near the bottom of your rock structure, once that thing takes off it will shade anything below it pretty badly.

How much water change
Its a 70 gal
25 gal. Test next day and see where levels are at. They will not be perfect but it will get you closer to where you need to be.

I'm thinking your Cal will probably come down to 500 from 600 which is not ideal but acceptable.

If needed , dose alk to keep steady and keep an eye on cal amd watch it fall to match your water change batch. I try to match the same levels I get in a new batch of freshly mixed salt water . That way when you do water changes levels are equal.

If cal level is still high after a week, do a 10 gal water change. Do this every week till levels are equal to your mix up . Then dial in you auto doser.

When corals are happy go slow to fine tune things.

When corals are unhappy and things are way out of wack, big change is ok when it's in the right direction.

Hope this helps.

I think there is insufficient light. Montipora needs a lot of light to grow. Move your montipora closer to light and see if it grows otherwise change into metal halide light. I had a great success in keeping montipora with metal halide light.

You do not need a halide to grow a cap.

That coral will grow anywhere in your tank.

...what lights are you running?

If anything moving it to more light will stress it right now, it's not that way from light.
