Atlantis Purple Heart Acro - growth progression

I'd like to highlight a relatively obscure acro that, as far as I know, very few people are keeping.

Atlantis got this one in not too long before they faded into obscurity. At the time they called it the purple heart unknown, but it appears to be A. gemmifera.

The base color on this coral is really quite funky, a sort of creamy apricot. Kinda like the base color of the jawdropper, but not quite. All corallite tips are bright purple. Polyps start out green and progress though a rainbow of weird colors before turning the same apricot-orange as the base.

Fairly fast grower, too. Pics represent growth from mid-September to today.

Atlantis had some awesome stuff.

I found Banana Lokani (it might have been from Westside originally). Still looking for Crayola Plana and the 24k Acro... I have not seen a trace of these in a long time.

I had this piece around 2007-08 along with the Purple Godzilla and Sunrize Milli(still have it). May i ask where you aquired the Purple Heart? I miss them. I still have pink lemonade, Oregon Tort and Rommells Rainbow acro's from Ming. Great picture, thanks for sharing.

I love the fact it’s a Gemmifera and it looks great too. Love seeing pieces that date back to those days of reefkeeping. The growth right now makes me excited when I see it all clustered, can’t wait for future growth pics.

Update, this one completely browned out for a period due to coral warfare and is finally snapping out of its funk. A celebration I say! It's already looking like its old self under blue led, so it's just a matter of time.

Are the green polyps a result of the stress you had mentioned?

For the most part. New polyps start out green, then transition from yellow to peachy-orange as they age. Browned out polyps are repeating the process. I guess if you wanted a permanent rainbow look, you could take a screwdriver and stab it now & then.

Yes Yes... definitely appears to be a lot of warfare in there. You need to trim the aggressors back and text me when the frags are mounted on plugs.
