On one side I have them about 3" and the other is about 5". I'm giving it time, I do think it's working.

It is working. Any algae is taking nutrients out. But trust me.put them at 2" each and soon youll get that gha and can feed it to ur tangs too. Mine love it haha

Somebody start one, and if their is enough feedback and info flowing, I'll make it a sticky.

Well maybe I can get some info flowing and add another user to this thread.
what the heck is ATS?? Another bureau of the goverment I dont know about?

Wouldn't algae scrubber be "AS"? I'm pretty sure ATS is still Algae Turf Scrubber.

Here is what ReefBreeders said about their "Fuge-Lite" that I was considering for my ATS (or AS):

They use 12 3watt LEDs, run at 2 watts each, so they consume about 24 watts a piece. I use 2 on my ATS, and they grow algae like crazy.

What does everyone think?

If they are running at 2w that will prolly be fine, I know I saw some other guys talking bout one that was much cheaper on amazon that was onlyn12w.

The 12w only are good for a screen the size of the bulb. I have 3 of those.

Mike-

I have been reading more into a AS and I've read that biopellets and scrubbers don't work well together. Have you noticed any issues with you scrubber or algae growth since you've started using pellets?

Yea the algae growth has been better lol. Im not sure what issues youve read about or where but its probly from people tying to sell scrubbers or biopellets lol.
There shouldnt be any issues as long as you dont run nutrients to low i wouldnt think.

What issues are people saying?

They're just saying that the pellets and scrubber come from "opposite sides" of the filtration spectrum and they wouldn't work well together.

I was planning on lowering the amount of pellets I am running once the scrubber is online.

Who is they? Lol they obviously dont know and are just making things up. They will basically split the work. Altho they do work at different ratios. Even if u had 0 nitrates but some phos the scrubber would still grow algae and reduce the phos. But realistically what happens is as nutrient rich waters go to ur sump some goes to scrubber some to pellets. The pellets do work faster and the water is basically cleaned once it leaves the reactor where as the algae probably doesnt consume the nutrients on the first pass. Im also not using full recomended ammount of pellets. But look up the latest advanved aquarist online article of Paul B tank the video shows his sump and he uses a big algae screen because he says pellets wont consume allbthe phos.

I've been reading Floyd R. Turbo's thread on RC, that's where it was said. I believe by Floyd.
