We have a new database we are working on and before you quit reading let me just say that this is an awesome add on to our software! Nothing like in the past.

Here is why I got your attention.

We're creating a new SPS DB and with the new DB we can customize all of the fields and have them searchable. So I need you to tell me what types of custom fields we will need. These fields will help differentiate between each "NAMED" sps coral and make it easier to search a name.

For example we might have the following fields:

1. Color
2. Polyp Color
3. Growth Pattern
4. Grafted: Yes or No
5. Originated From
6..............

Please post what fields you think we should include that will make this the best SPS datbase ever! When I get all the fields I can create it and you all can enter your sps!

Thanks!

Some nice SPS identifying points

1) species
2) base color
3) additional body colors
4) polyp color
5) growth pattern
6) location of collection
7) originator
8) common names
9) similar corals
10) keywords (additional identifiers people might use for that specific coral)

Then there should be a non searchable comment section that allows people to list things like light preference, flow preference, likeliness to RTN, growth rate, etc.

I think you will need to add multiple columns for color.

What do you mean? I think you mean because some are multicolored correct? If so yes I agree but how will be define that?

Tip color?
Base Color?
Main Body Color?
Polyp Color?

We can do all that. If so what else should we include?

Great suggestions! I can put this together pretty quick. I'll start adding these in.

As far as growth pattern maybe we could have multiple choice. What would those choices be?

Somebody want to help get all this together?

Can you list all all the species so we can make it multiple choice?

I had the list of species copied but it was a huge list, so I'll just post a link to the list :). It might make more sense to do "suspected species (plural)" or something like that. Since exact identification is difficult.
