Attention wifi controlled black box owners

The app is called aquarium light below is where I am trying to connect the router with no luck

This is on the app .. I’m sure I had too go into my router via my pc too add the light then connect with password in the app .. I’m sure it’s because your router doesn’t see the light yet

Any stickers/tags on the light to identify it? Is there a QR code on the light? What is the WiFi networks called? I have 2 of the Roleadro/Evergrow/PopularGrow/whatever the name is today WiFi lights. They are all made by the same company which seemingly changes names more often than I change filter socks. Mine doesn't have a reset button just a dimmer knob, master on/off and WiFi on/off switch. Mine use the "SmartController" app. But now I'm wondering if any of the other apps out there would work too.

Just so happen I took a picture of the sticker this morning see attached I have tried using both QR codes in case it provided a different app to use. I was also wondering if there was different apps and if there was one suggested more than another

have you tried too access your router via your home pc and see what devices are using it ?

not as of yest that was going to be my next plan this weekend. I had already boxed the unit back up in my frustration yesterday

Now i use the previous mentioned app aquarium light app instead of aqdim because it aint working on android anymore. Try this!

I have the same light and had the same issues. The wifi signal on this light is horrible. If you put the light right next to your router and try to connect it will work. Bring the light across the room and it won't pick up the signal

try manual before auto to assure response. On your phone, the light should be on the wifi list. select and then go to set up.

I’ve been told now you must first connect the lamp with your phone using WiFi .. the you can enter the router through the app ,

That's a different light than mine. Mine you connect directly to the light as it acts as it's own WiFi network. No connecting to my home router. I was having issues connecting to the lights WiFi at first as my phone kept disconnecting in favor of my home WiFi as the light doesn't have internet. Some setting in my phone fixed that. You light and situation appear to be different. Good luck!

I had one and returned it. I could never get it to connect either. After many emails with the seller, I found out it will not connect with newer 5.1 wifi. And yes the blinking light on top means something. The seller wanted me to send a video of the light in action. Then offered to send me parts to fix the light, which I refused and had to ask for my money back several times. I'm not an IT guy but I do know my way around tech stuff (avionic tech). I had an older light laying around and decided to use it. Also forgot to mention the QR code that you scan to download the APP, sent me to some Chinese Spam site and loaded a bunch of crap on my phone. The seller had to send me a different link for the APP. So had I a bad feeling about this purchase and was glad to get rid of it. Sorry to here your having troubles with this light. I was considering trying it again. Not now.

So I received my light yesterday and out out of the box I am having issues. I think lack of info is the primary issue. following the instructions:
1. download the aquarium light app
2. Press the Reset button on the light (does the unit need to be on and in what mode?) tried all variations none of which worked
3. go to the dropdown menu in the app and select one touch configuration(does not exist the app says router configuration)

so I tried a variety of different things none of which worked. I also noticed a indicator light which is flashing twice. I am sure it means something but there is no mention what so ever about this light. I have as well sent emails to the ebay seller and the manufacturer noted on the brochure. I had big time concerns about this purchase but beyond my better judgement I went ahead with it anyway I just hope I can work thru the issues. Any suggestions or info would be appreciated

Hi i have 4 of these they say rotello or something on them
I also jad problems. It turns out they are only able to handle 2.5g routers. Mine is a 5g. They are shipping me new wifi boards and im picking up an additional router that is 2.5 which will be for them. Im planning to pick up another 3 lights once i get the wifi to function properly.
I had 1 light working on my wifi, but they told me to reset it amd when i did it wouldnt reconnect.

hi, i used to have the aqdim3 app and worked flowlesly but it was pulled out from the appstore, so i downloaded de Aquarium Light app, this new app does not seem to find the light, even putting it as access point or conecting it to my router.
i can connect to the the light ip address and see all parameters, so the wifi card in the light is working ok, it is just the app does not seem to find it,
I contacted manufacturer and was told i have to replace wifi card in the light as new app does not support it.
I find that difficult to believe as i can find it with a computer.
any comment, or anyone who can connect using the new Aquarium Light app and can show the ip parameters?

Don't know what to tell you. Another reefer had the same issue and they pulled out an old Android phone to get it working. Best bet is to find an old android phone with working wifi, as the new version of android won't run the old software either.

What g is your wifi running at? I contacted the manufacturer in china after having the same issue. They explained that the lights only work on a 2.4g wifi and that the 5g was to strong for them. I had to buy a wifi extender, set it at 2.4 and hit the reset on the lights a few times. I also had to set my phone to the wifi from the extender. After that they worked

2.4 and 5 are different frequencies. That shouldn't matter unless you have a lot of wifi devices connected on the 2.4ghz channel.

This guy's issues is the app is not longer available for iPhones. They completely removed the app.

I am not a computer person, but i know what they told me, which fixed the problem. I can try to attach the emails. They went as far as to ship me new wifi boards to replace the old ones, but i ended up not needing them.
