Australian live rock

Anyone got delivery yet?
Waiting on my box too

There was another gentlemen selling here Australian rock in NYC.
He was at 35 dollars a pound.
So I was happy to see 24.99/ lb

Funny how life works.
In 2013 when I started I asked what's liverock?
No clue. You guys educated me and informed me about biological filtration. When I went to lfs to buy he told me it's 6.99/lbs

I needed 100 lbs so 699 plus tax
Almost made me quit hobby.
Today I am so deep in hobby that I think 25 per pound is great deal.

I have a feeling that this rock is like Walt Disney rock that has been seeded or thrown in the sea for like 5 or 10 years.

Looking at the color I've never seen any live rock with so much color on it and it also says it's sustainable. It's quite possible that they left it in the ocean like Tampa Bay or KP aquatics etc and now they are harvesting it.

Can Unique Corals clear it. Looks like real reef rock thrown in ocean for 10yrs.

Is all that color coralline?
I could be wrong. Starting in hobby late I just never saw real live rock.

I just picked my package up from the ups customer center. I'll post pics when I get home and get the rock out of the box. There's an abalone in the order as well, I'll get picks of the invert as well.

The Australian rock seems to be "natural;" it looks far too similar to dead coral branches to be aquacultured manmade rock and too irregular to be manmade branch rock. The sustainability aspect probably comes from the the rocks growing from and then separating off reefs during storms, which is how most "natural" live rock is formed (but this means the sustainability of the rock depends on how fast the coral, that forms the rock, grows, which is probably why "natural" live rock is not usually considered sustainable).

The majority of the patches look like Coralline.

Walt Smith Rock?

Guys these rocks are the real deal. I haven't been in the salt water game for long maybe 8 years on and off and I've never come across anything like this. The one large piece appears to be an old coral skeleton. Could be hundreds of years old i have no clue...100% expect alot of die off and cycle this before putting it in your tanks. Beautiful rock though i wish i purcahsed more lol.

shouldn't it be more wet than that? That almost looks dry to me, but I don’t know much about lr tbh.

looks nice! It looks like you got a coral on it as well?

I had abalones years ago when you could get real live rock... they hitchhiked in and reproduced like crazy! Wish someone would aquaculture them.

This is multiple pics of 2 rocks totaling 7lbs. It was shipped wrapped in wet paper. The rocks were moist but not soaked. It was packaged very well though not submerged in water. I will cycle it and put it in the display asap to see what it looks like under tank lighting. It's really different from the rock I'm used to getting elsewhere. Be cautious handling it though its pretty brittle.

im currently setting up holding 10 gallon tank as i speak hah , i believe mines will come in tommrow , brittle is good , porous guys.:)

I couldn't have been more satisfied with this purchase. I'm housing mine in a 5 gallon bucket. I'm looking forward to seeing everybody's haul.

Yes looks like a coral too but I don't anticipate them making it through the cycle. Alot of macro and sponges though.
